2-2!! I thought Japan blew their chance when she just had to lob the keeper. Couple of decent crosses / through balls from Japan. Scrappy goal, but that's fine... retro-edit: D'oh, I thought it took a deflection, but it hadn't. So not scrappy at all, good movement anyway to catch the defenders out and great header.
edit: Great last ditch defending. Still 2-2... edit 2: Gosh. Japan one woman down then, but it's penalties. Last edited by so_cold : 2011.07.17 at 02:28 PM. |

That was classless, unfortunately.
Edit: Moot point now. Does Japan have a chance here? |

Yeah, but I think that Japanese defender kind of had to do that.
I dunno if Japan has a chance this is the only 20 minutes of this I've seen. USA have apparently won on pens in this tournament already... edit: USA miss first pen!!! Japan 1-0 up. That was casual... edit 2: Holy crap second missed USA pen! Come on Japan! edit 3: OK, that was piss-poor. Still 1-0. edit 4: Great save from Japan. Come on, score this one and it's odds-on!! Terrible USA penalties. Last edited by so_cold : 2011.07.17 at 01:19 PM. |

Japan win 2-2 AET, 3-1 on pens
Japan just need to score one...
FANTASTIC PENALTY! Wow!! The last Japanese penalty taker did reallly well under pressure, there was only one weak one from them. Well done Japan... What was the rest of the game like? (edit: LOL, that was awful defending for Japan's first goal. Oh well!) Last edited by so_cold : 2011.07.17 at 01:27 PM. |

Wow, what a game. I really need to watch more football
EDIT (this is a fun way to talk): The first half was all US. They completely outplayed Japan. To be honest, this win was 50% luck and 50% Kaihori. Last edited by The Most Curious Thing : 2011.07.17 at 01:28 PM. |

This was fun indeed, but why is it just us? For shame, EMF. edit: Here's the winning penalty again! She wasn't put off at all by the hand wavey stand off the line thing that goalkeepers do. Last edited by so_cold : 2011.07.17 at 01:54 PM. |

How does it feel that England was the only team to beat Japan in the Cup?

^ Oh that's normal... We always have a hard luck story in the men's World Cups.
Not so much at World Cup 2010 though, we were terrible in that. Second most abject team in that tournament after France. |
