Default Bossa Nova thread

Well I made another list for another friend after hearing all that black orpheus I was in a bossa mood, so I made this list for a friend. I know nothing about brazilian bossa, so I learned alot.

Anyone even remotely into shibuya-kei should randomly pick a link to click on and get to listening. Most of my bossa experience comes from american jazz and japanese jazz (like immigrant's bossa band).

Well feel free to discuss anything about bossa you love or hate.

I highly recommend mama!milk, from Kyoto Japan.
They make some pretty bossa tunes, though their repertoire extends to tango as well. Very sexy and unique.

Cibelle, from Sao Paulo, is possibly one of my favourite bossa-electronica artists ever. Her debut album "Cibelle", produced by Apollo 9, is a classic.

If you're interested in Brazilian music outside of bossa nova, I highly recommend downloading Avolta Jr's Rare Brazilian Grooves podcasts. There are about 20 of them, about 30minutes each, with hot brazilian music and a brief description of the history of the musicians and songwriters. Unfortunately the original site is now down, but there are a bunch of places online where u can listen to it.

I'm listening to mama milk right now... Excellent stuff. I love tango... THE sexiest dance on earth... I learned to tango a bit... but stopped going to the free lessons... Why does japan just find sexy women and make them do everything? Yuko is quite hot and the accordian is tight... kujaku is making me want to narrarate a romance movie in black and white while slipping on wine... serious stuff right there...

And they have a live in oki??? I hope they come when I'm on oki...

Listening to "two ripples" npow... its enough to get me engorged! Excellent find! Thanks for the links!
