The Shaki Thread (Shakira)
anyone here like Shakira?
I randomally found the viral video for her new English/Spanish single, She-Wolf/Loba. CRAZY. they are starting this viral horror campaign where people are getting attacked by she-wolves, LOL. In the official one that was made first you can see it is Shakira and hear a 15 second preview of the song. It is TOTALLY disco. Some critics and reviewers were given early listens and the reactions are really positive. The single is going to be released on June 29th, so not much longer to wait.
fans are being encouraged to make their own, so there are all sorts of videos popping up and accounts set up to keep track of various attacks around the world. cool concept, a bit whacky. This is shaping up to be Shaki's Thriller. Apparently one of the lyrics is something like "There's a she-wolf in the closet, open up and set it free (howling noise), there's a she-wolf in the closet, let it out so it can breathe". according to one reviewer, XD |

I adore Shakira. I've been a fan ever since I saw the "Whenever, Wherever" video on TV a while back. And I still enjoy listening to Oral Fixation Vol. 2. She's great.
Also, LOL @ the video clips. Best way to promote ever.

Ooh, I'm loving the beats in the new song. That darker Donna Summer type of disco is my favorite. <3 <3
I'm a fairly big Shakira fan, but as of late it seems to be secluded just to her first 2 albums. I couldn't stand her most recent 2 albums. Save for "La Tortura" (which may be the best song she's ever written) her Spanish album bored me to tears. And the "Hips Don't Lie" novelty wore off after a few days -- and that was after realizing that she's just awkward in English. "A Poem To a Horse" and "Ready For the Good Times" are probably the only English songs of hers that I could listen to now. Last edited by mizer_unmei : 2009.06.21 at 11:43 AM. |

The new single is going to be given a Spanish version to promote it in the Spanish-speaking countries, but the album itself is going to be English. A while ago they said she was doing the same type of release as she did for Oral Fixation, one in English and one in Spanish, although this time it would start with English and the Spanish version could come out later. Supposedly the album will be released end of September, some places are saying September 25th, 2009, but the single is scheduled to make its debut June 29th (not so long). The video has already been shot and is being edited (as says Shaki on her twittter). Supposedly it has live wolves in it. Also, no one has mentioned it but the wiki is listing the album as "Animal Instinct" and some radio stations were playing Animal City from Oral Fixation as the new single a few days ago, oops.
I really like the reports of what this sounds like on top of the preview. Apparently its a fun smart quirky disco dance shakira track that is a bit a whacky and exactly the type of summer song everyone hopes for. it will definitely be a chart-topper. |

you mean you like her with dark colored hair better?
music-wise, her spanish releases are always good. people who said the crossover ruined her should listen to Oral Fixation Volume 1, that album was awesome. Vol. 2 was a bit of a disappointment for me, but I have high hopes for her new work. |

Lol, I absolutely loved her back in 2000-4ish, but haven't listened to her properly in years. Think I've still got somewhere my copies of Pies Desalzos (Loved that Estoy Aqui track on it), Donde Estan.... (Don't remember much from it, except moscas sin la casa (?) and Tu being an incredible ballad) and Laundry Service (absolutely loved it at the time, need to go over it again soon).

Just had a quick browse through the album and now remember hating Ojos Asi lol. Then again, looooved Magia (Peligro though is hilariously bad), so my Shakira taste may be a bit weird lol.
