Wow, I heard their songs on their myspace and they are really good. Thanks for the recommendation :D

How do you pronounce Clã? The reason I ask is because during one of my audio quizzes (when I was still taking portuguese), I was supposed to tell the difference between "ã", "á" and "a". I freaked out. Don't they all sound the same? *shrugs*

As for Clã, while I don't think they sound similar to TJ, they seem to be well worth checking out. From the myspace samples I seem to favour the non-guitar, more electronic songs more. Is the song "Tortura de Amor" by them too? That's the one I like the most. It doesn't seem to belong to any of the two albums you mentioned either.

well...
"ã" is like "an" in the japanese pronounce, but more nasal and shorter
"á" is like "ah" in the japanese pronounce, but shorter
and well "a" is like "a" in the japanese pronounce, the true is that portuguese and japanese pronounce have just small differences

Lucky.

As for the band, they seem pretty good. I never really listened to anything in portuguese from portugal, only one or two things from Madredeus.

About the pronunciation, it's IPA "Klã". Very easy, as it uses only simple sounds. You can check out the IPA sounds on wiki.

Ah! Brazilian 70s! Just my thing! Maybe I want to get my hands on that album first... :P

Thanks Lena and F999 on the pronunciation :)

Hey, just got this info through Clã's Newsletter.
Apparently they are going to perform in SXSW, a music+film festival in Austin, Texas USA. So if you're going to attend, don't forget to check them out. Manuela Azevedo, the vocalist, puts on a great live performance (usually) :D

haha this is a surprise. I like some of Clã's stuff, but I wasn't a big fan of Cintura, to be honest. I just wasn't feeling anything when I listened to their performances. Maybe if I see the songs live, I will change my opinion.

And didn't you notice a strange similarity between the photoshoots of Clã's "Cintura" album and Tokyo Jihen Phase 1 Kyoiku era? :D
I'm not saying they copied or anything, because it's not really the same thing, it's just an accident.

Yeah, totally! That's one of the reasons that led me to mention the resemblence in atitude by both of the bands, altough sound-wise they are more close to Phase 2.
Well, my opinion about their albums matured and currently "Rosa Carne" is my favourite and I believe it's their best effort. The tracklist has an awesome flow and every track shows lots of good production and the lyrics are great. "Cintura", to use a TJ reference, is in between "Adult" and "Variety": good songs, high quality production but lacks cohesiveness. It's a bunch of cool songs.
