Thanks for explaining everything, Glathannus!! I think I get which kind of posts to approve now, but I'm still kind of confused about the reputation power.

Also, what does the green light under your reputation power mean? (Thanks to whoever gave me a point! :))

Glathannus 2007.04.04 08:15 PM

Green light means you have positive Reputation instead of neutral or negative. When you gain enough Reputation, you may have more than one light, and the descriptive text coming from the light such as "badtzmaru is an unknown quantity at this point", will change to something like "will become famous soon enough", and then to something else, and something else. There's ladder system just like being a "Junior" or "Senior" member based on postcount.

I'm not really a fan of rating systems on forums. It really boils down to popularity and subjectivity in reality, regardless of whether or not someone claims to be unbiased.

Hmm, I don't really see a point in the Reputation system. I've seen it on other forums, and people never really use it, so...

Well, I think the reputation system is something to encourage active and thoughtful participation in this forum. It might not be of any use now, but I'm sure the admins will do something so that it becomes useful.

But anyway, if no one uses the rep system, then it would truly be useless.

I see how you can add to someones rep but how do you take away? When you click on the icon, it only says "I Approve"

golem09 2007.04.16 08:45 AM

you don't rep a person in genereal, you give reps for every single post.
That's why you have to give an explanation of why you rep him. You should only rep his post, not the person, so that the reps are a sign of his contribute to the community.

Maybe you knew all this and was just wondering why you can not disapprove.
Well, I don't know that, too^^

Nebularus 2007.08.23 10:30 AM

Yes, I can't see how you disapprove of someone's post.

...Soooo, when is this rep point thing going to kick in? Is it time release thing? paid member? Or is it possible for admin to set the condition manually? I think I "owe" people alotta those, and I really don't want to send some one zero point...

And where's badtzmaru?

Lena-chan 2007.08.31 05:16 AM

and where is catch5bats???
O.o
