Seiko Oomori doing a reunion show with Lai Lai Lai Team on January 31.
I'll probably attend seeing as I'm in that neck of the woods around then!

This is the trailer for the upcoming film that Seiko Oomori did the theme song for, has a bit of the song on it. And it gives me those chills like the first time I heard her. Can't wait to get it in full!

So, sure, Ringo might be having a shit year(s) but Seiko's 2019 so far is quite solid. I haven't been really posting as it all comes along cause it's all so lightning fast, but here's a summary of what's happened from Jan to now.
Main solo singles
She's also released these tracks in ZOC (her own idol group):
And with another single next month and one more release promised (no doubt the next album), it's all shaping up to be leading up to a pretty damn wonderful and varied album. My poor bank account!

Meanwhile in all the kerfuffle about Ringo, Seiko Oomori has dropped her best single since Dogma Magma. Goddamn I love everything about it

I just read through this thread from the beginning and it was genuinely heartwarming to see fans reacting to Seiko Oomori releases as they were happening during the last decade or so. It feels like unanimous excitement and anticipation hasn't happened on EMF about a Ringo release for like, well, ever. I mean, I joined in 2008 and saw all the Variety fallout in real time.
It's a bittersweet feeling because we all remember what it was like discovering Shiina Ringo for the first time and it feels like many of us have not only moved on from this forum but from being Ringo fans in general. I'm glad that Seiko Oomori fans can collectively enjoy her now because these things rarely seem to last. As long as Seiko doesn't become the hottest thing in Japan and remains a fairly well-kept secret, she could probably keep this momentum up. God knows Ringo is probably a victim of her own success, in a way. So the reason I made this post in the first place is that I finally gave Seiko Oomori a real try. Not just one song or the random opening she did for Black Clover but a REAL TRY. I read through deadgrandma's blog and saw that he gave 2016's Tokyo Black Hole an astounding 10/10. Well, naturally I had to check it out for myself and I finally just finished it! Here's some thoughts. (I assume DG is the only person who is ever going to read this) The standout tracks to me were definitely Tokyo Black Hole, Choushinsedai Castella Standard Magic Maji Kiss, Rock Me Rock Me, and Mushuusei Romantic ~Enchou-Sen~. In fact, Rock Me Rock Me may be the best on the album imo. Not sure what all the fuss is around the closing track because it didn't really do it for me and the others were either decent to good at least. Though I don't see any moments of true greatness here. I can't really call myself a fan yet but my interest is piqued. I'm still waiting for that "Kabukichou no Joou" moment where it all clicks and I realize I'm listening to something special. Maybe I'm just not acclimated to Seiko's style yet. I know that she's an acquired taste. I think I'll give Sennou a full listen tomorrow at work because I liked the first two tracks from that and I'll post my thoughts.

I'm still here, sort of, I visit emf once a year at least I think...
And while I do not keep up much, haven't heard her latest yet I will always love Shiina Ringo. As for Oomori Seiko, just give PINK a spin I'd say Edit: and everyone who posted here too. Last edited by NCORE : 2024.06.17 at 08:41 AM. |
