Kominami Yasuha
Curious, concept... I love it ! Then I searched the PV
Whaw... What an interesting voice (between Chara and Onitsuka Chihiro for my ears) Finally,I googled her, and I see "Favourite Artists: Janis Joplin, Shiina Ringo, Bjork, Yura Yura Teikoku" I immediately fell in love Official Website : http://kominamiyasuha.jp/ Do you know her ? What do you think about her work ? |

I've been into her for a while now, own everything except the first cd-r. She's getting better with every release, exciting stuff.

Yes, she's good. IMHO......she sounds far less confident and convincing, unable to wail like MM/SS-era Ringo does, but who cares right?

I kinda like that she does that breathy scream thing. It's cool.

I think that even if her favorite artists were actual influences, I'm sure there's someone like Kameda who has been tasked by EMI with arranging the music to be as mainstream as possible. Shiina Ringo could only make KSK without Kameda. If this woman's best work is still ahead of her, it's because she's still got that Kameda in her professional life.

Kameda is better than HZM...that guy wrote two of my least favourite songs on Kyouiku, "Ultramarine Weather" and "Service", both have this banal hard-rock sound.

I don't judge musicians solely by the songs they write - I also judge them for their style and prowess in arranging songs they did not necessarily write (there couldn't have been an Electric Mole without HZM). Someone is doing that job for Kominami Yasuha recordings, and their brilliance (or lack thereof) gets superimposed over whatever writing Kominami Yasuha did.
If you can't hear what I'm talking about, it's because you haven't gone to an American movie theater early, and seen/heard the things they try to advertise before the movie trailers. After you hear enough songs, you can eventually tell that no matter what "genre" they are, they fit into some industry formula where a computer with no human intuition could forecast that these songs were all gonna be successful. The Kominami Yasuha arrangements I've heard, all sound very computer-approvable.

That insight totally ignores people who consider KSK their least favourite Ringo album...

The insight doesn't factor favorites, it factors "the album that is different from the others."
