Top 100 Japanese albums list
Few months ago a music YouTuber gathered listeners poll and recently released top 100 list.
3 SR, 3 TJ listed. 100-30 Japanese albums https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vY6F-aPPrws 29-1 Japanese albums https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZ2zICG6DL0 He also released top 100 Western albums. 100-30 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBAA7YklUuM 29-1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3KdZN7Ayfg Well, I don't get both lists LOL. |

It's so weird that MM is above SS and KZK, but it's the test of time, MM feels more fresh now
also, I never even heard of the existence of the album on the no. 1 spot and I really don't respect any list that has mr. children or the blue heart in the top 10, both bands are so bland but I guess japanese people would maybe have feelings and memories linked to songs from these bands that would make them like them, right?! the same way I have feelings and memories towards brazilian music that might sound bland to others WFT is this western list? No female soloist? I also don't get it at all

The no.1 album is known for a song used in "Lost in Translation" outside country.
Domestically they are credited for establishing Japanese language rock. (and too much hyped decades after original release IMO) Last edited by EmilScherbe : 2020.12.01 at 07:52 AM. |

I've always though in the 60s there was already rock music in Japanese
I mean, without being just Japanese versions of western songs

It hurt me to see KSK ranked #70 but helped soften every blow that followed.
No Togawa Jun or King-Show's Buddha L or Sister Strawberry but having Asian Kung-Fu Generation in the top 30. The Blue Hearts @ 2 seems nuts to me. Spitz is cool though and Muzai Moratorium is (somehow) even to this day underrated I think. It's cool to see it high up although it holds no meaning considering the quality of said list (very meh) It might've been a better idea to do the list in tiers, selecting any amount of albums he'd deem top tier (100) to the worst (1) or something similar. Imagine for example scoring KSK tier 3/10 and MM 10/10 while being a fan of Shiina Ringo. It could happen on EMF. |
