She doesnt write for herself for every song. Like in theatrical productions, she likes to channel into different characters or write for a certain kind of person.
she got into songwriting back in high school making music for school plays. I think I read that in her bio. so that could be why composing for a he or she isn't a hinderance. she probably watches alot of movies and reads a book or two for lyrical inspiration. I like that her love songs are usually twisted and involve murder, suicide, mismatched couples, obsessiveness. didn't she say she always just wanted to write "love" songs? why would she alter the music? I actually have never seen an artist alter pronouns. You can sing from a male perspective as a female and vice versa. That is like saying that women can't relate to music written by men because they can't understand what the male perspective is. Ringo not only leaves her pronouns alone, but she also clearly sang the male part in a duet song, Momen no Handkerchief.
same goes for guys, if a song is written with atashi when you sing it you wouldn't change it simply because that is the way it is written and music is more than just gender or words. |
