Best Vinyls
So, I was listening to my SS vinyl, and to tell you the truth, I couldn't really tell much difference between it and the CD (hate to be the bearer of bad news)- perhaps at most a little bit clearer...
However, other vinyls I have bought have had a clear and huge difference over their CD/Digital counterparts. So question I pose is what have been your most impressive vinyl purchases. A few off the top of my head: - Tim Buckley- Greetings from L.A. - Metallica- Master of Puppets (45RPM) - The Arcade Fire- Neon Bible - Tool- Undertow, Lateralus - PJ Harvey- To Bring You My Love - Sigur Ros- Aegetis Byrjun/Untitled - Tokyo Jihen- Variety Analog (yes, it indeed sounds better) All of these above are significantly richer, bassier and sound like they have more 'heart' to them. I want to buy some more but kinda getting a bit annoyed with the fact that some really do sound like the CDs, regardless of what people may think. So what are your best vinyl purchases? And which ones should I avoid? Last edited by deadgrandma : 2012.06.08 at 06:07 AM. |

In Rainbows.
Slow tunes like Nude have a massive aural advantage in analogue format. Worst one was possibly St Vincent's Marry Me.

Asobi Seksu's Stay Awake is really good (and the only way to get a high quality, legal version of song).
@JR Actor is better than Marry Me in sound quality. It's still not great as things tend to get messy and lost when heavily layered, but it's OK.

Well EMF, after ten years and over 4 thousand posts, I finally own my first Shiina Ringo album!
(unless you count ZCS, which you shouldn't) It also came with some friends to whom I am in varying degrees of excite. (uhh, yeah, I can't wait to listen to that Variety ep...)
