I've done Test & Copy -> Uncompressed a couple of times and that's all the status/error messages it gives me...
Doing some research, I have discovered that the album was mastered to clip, which is ridiculous. It sounds awful and pretty much ruins it for me. That still doesn't anwer the question as to why it sounds like it doesn't clip on the Spotify stream... EDIT: Fuck it, I just bought it from iTunes. Clip is still there but less noticeable. I guess lossy is sometimes better? Last edited by TurtleFu : 2012.10.12 at 07:56 PM. |

Spotify had a significant presence in Europe before they finally expanded to the United States. If an album is internationally popular enough, it stands to reason that it could be published in multiple continents, and Spotify possibly used a European disc. Just because they're offering music availability to you an American, doesn't mean they're always sourcing American CDs - even if the artist is American.

By the way, I have a few questions: what music industry seems to be the pioneer in this 'loudness war'? Is Japanese industry an active member of this trend? Is it consistent or does it depend on the artist or label involved? |

My boys Oasis are some of the first culprits back in 94, 95
@TurtleFu, re: Monster: that looks concerning, but my copy of MBDTF looks like that too, brickwalled.

Alright here it goes.
1. EAC rips into WAV, what about FLAC? 2. So I've been ripping into 320kbps but now I realize I am running out of space so I'm going to start ripping into v0 (I can't tell the difference anyways) So I had a lot of trouble ripping into v0 through EAC. Eventually a forum online said to set the parameter passing scheme to "User Defined Encoder", program is lame.exe, with additional command line options "-V 0 --vbr-new --add-id3v2 --ignore-tag-errors --ta "%a" --tt "%t" --tg "%m" --tl "%g" --ty "%y" --tn "%n" %s %d" Now the problem is that it rips the songs in v0, but the song lengths are wrong! So Zero, by Yeah Yeah Yeahs, is 4:25, but the mp3 length says 8:50. The song plays normally, and once it ends, it moves on to the next song. But when it ends the progress bar is still only halfway through the entire length. I don't really know why the song lengths are doubled but it's not affecting playback other than last.fm scrobbling. |

1.) I've never used EAC to rip MP3s, but I know that lossless formats (such as FLAC) are ripped in much the same way. After you've configured FLAC as your User Defined Encoder, you would continue to initiate "Compressed" rips, but they would turn out to be FLAC instead of MP3.
2.) Try it without "--ignore-tag-errors", and see what the resulting track durations look like.

So the only thing I touched was I deleted that part of the command line, and now it won't convert at all. Even though it's set to compress to LAME, it rips the wav and then says everything is completed.
EDIT: Nevermind, I fixed it by changing the command line to "-V0 %s %d" which now works perfectly! Thank you for all the help Glath. Maybe you should start charging with all the things I have you do for me. Last edited by TurtleFu : 2012.11.09 at 07:33 PM. |

This is my first night with the ATH-M50. I'm starting to seriously second-guess if I've really heard MoRA before, and I haven't even gone through much of the alleged "burn-in" yet. This is easily the best $130 I've ever spent, even if it leaves me broke for awhile. *edit* Holy shit, the bass of capture 419 is hitting me precisely as it should. I'm already not missing my broken MDR-7509s.

I just scored a set of Sennheiser HD 558s for $150, pretty happy with them too, though not really good for travelling (which I wouldn't do with them anyway). Have not given MoRA a spin with them yet, mainly just listening to Sunn O))) vinyls (an audio experience you have to hear for yourself) :-p
