I'm still working on converting some guys in the dorm into Ringo fans. I think my Oasis-loving friend is slowly coming around.

I've tried with some friends, but with no luck. A lot of them can't get past the language barrier. I'm always surprised at the amount of people that place importance on lyrics first. One girl just kept referring to Ringo as "that girl that wails when she sings?" :/

I have gotten the same comments! Especially with Tsumi to Batsu, which I find to be raucaus song and everyone else reads it as whiny.

I think you have to be familiar with the sounds of a language to distinguish where they are coming from. Someone who is unfamiliar with the sounds may hear whining while someone who is familiar with the sounds will hear something more vengeful. I was just having a conversation about this with my uncle when we were watching a Japanese television show. He was annoyed that an actor sounded a certain way when speaking, but it made sense within the context if you understood the way the language was being used. Every language has their own little things but you don't perceive them negatively unless they're foreign to you.

I've found a handful of acquaintances that'll comment when I post something SR on facebook, such as my secondcousins or online friends. Mostly people who were aware of her a few years ago but she really doesn't do the int'l/hype thing so they thought she had just retired or faded into obscurity
