I'm not sure why some people are bothered about her taking photos with other people. Let her do her own thing.

Musicians take pictures with other musicians of different genres. Get over it.

Can't wait for the new music to drop.

It's not like I'll tell myself or my friends that I'm a Shiina Ringo fan, only if that can fit into some elitist schema. I either dig the grooves or I don't.

(I feel like I wrote a twisted school of frankfurt piece)
This may be view of the distributor (EMI), but I doubt the thought goes past "it sells, theres a a market." Yes, it is a product, but it's a product where there is an implicit promise. A promise that it is a meaningful personal expression of the artist. Sure you can subvert that subversion, but it's still that artist's view (in the example of "boost the pride" of the audience, the artist is clearly expressing something "personal and meaningful." You can pull as far as you'd like, but that understanding remains.

I'm not saying there is no good pop music, I'm not saying all pop music is hollow. Lady Gaga is pop, but she makes good music that conveys something (though, she's not the best example because she also subverts her genre a bit.) Yes, KZK and the Dopamint single are both available for sale, so they both are commercial products in that sense. However, it should be clear the intent behind both works are different. That is what I'm talking about, thats the difference between art and commercial pop art. We can pull back as far as we want, but there will always be an inherent difference between (using western examples) The Jonas Brothers and Radiohead.

Perhaps she just got tired of the eccentric image from her early era; after all, people change, so do their tastes in music. In my humble opinion we should rather be grateful for what she did than be peevish about what she's doing.

Some people just go right to the point.
If I could, I would hug you!
