Yeah, I think most anniversaries are only celebrated after 10 years. Then it's like 15, 20 so on. I'm sure TJ is up for a best of type album or a compilation type thing :\ record labels love to milk things :3

This Tokyo Jihen didn't make Kyouiku, and only partly made Adult.

so because you have 1 bad album (which is still light years ahead of most of what is out there) you can't release an anniversary/best album?

OMG, please. They made Variety, so they should be all burned at stakes? Nobody forces you to buy it or listen to it, whereas it's pretty much impossible to skip these posts.
BX had 8 songs, six of which were off KZK and there were zero SS songs. So it might be entirely possible they will release something as a 5th anniversary in the same sense - BX just coincided with release dates but didn't have that "anniversary" promotion like WtH/WnH, and it wouldn't mean it has to be a retrospective thing.

only partly made adult? why, cuz Ringo wrote most of it? In that sense, Phase 1 has as little to do with Kyouiku as Phase 2 does of Adult...in fact, the whole "adult" theme was the band's idea, Kameda specifically, whereas Kyouiku is arguably the *most* Ringo-centric phase Tokyo Jihen ever went through.

Phase one might have played Himitsu, Toumei Ningen, and Superstar, but none of those songs were written or shaped by anyone who was exclusively in Phase 1. Kameda was in both Phase 1 and 2, and Ringo wrote the rest, whereas Tegami was written by Izawa, who was not in Phase 1 at all, so you can't even argue that Phase 1 even REMOTELY shaped Adult, that being if you define Phase 1 as HZM and Hirama. It was *ALL* Phase 2. Not only that, but IMO, the band's weakest single b-side was written by a Phase 1-only member, Hirama-Kao.

Tokyo Jihen is hardly so bad that they don't deserve any sort of "Best Of" or Anniversary compliation. Perhaps it is a bit too soon, but all the hating is kind of unwarranted. If you don't like it, don't listen to it.

Maybe a concert called Phase 1 versus Phase 2, where Hirama and HZM face off against Ukigumo and Izawa, and Phase 1 plays Phase 2 songs and vice versa.

...No.

Or how about a straight up street dual, Ph.1 vs. Ph.2. I can just see it now, Uki pulling Hirama's priss-hair and HZM beating Izawa upside the head with a keyboard.

kameda ringo and hata can sit on the sidelines drinking melon soda and judge the last man standing.

Not if its a five year anniversary and that one bad album is 30% of their catalog.

And the only thing Variety is "light years" ahead of is the big bang. And I bet even that was more comfortable to listen to.

If you turn of your TV with no input, you'll hear it. The static is (in part) residual from the Big Bang. Is that better than Variety? XP
