Zack Braff acting nonchalant on a highly turbulent plane. Then wakes up in an all-white room, hears his mom is dead.
20 mins in: so is this going to be anything but an indie-hipster bullshit-fest? =p As much as I like The Shins, I rolled my eyes when they started playing. Then of course a drug-fest party, groan. 27 mins in and Miss Portman could not come in sooner >_< I dunno, she uses the phrase "lipstick"tho.... Aw, fuck and shes listening the shins?? Fucking hell, how ham-fisted =p I have a feeling shes not saving my day (even if shes acting well). And eh, I quit =P Natalie Portmans great, thats not surprising. The rest of the movie, not surprising me either.

I think if you go into it with the attitude that it's going to be an indie-hipster bullshit fest, or just a general anti-indie stance, that's exactly what you'll find. There's no use in taking apart every bit of the film. I think it's far less arrogant than a lot of indie movies, and it has enough dry wit and charm to win me over. But then again, I don't mind Braff in Scrubs.

I gave it a fair shot  I went in optimistic, but the first few minutes had reset the tone.
The movie I'm now currently watching, Little Miss Sunshine, I was worried was "Indie hipster" tripe too. Spescially in the first montage and scene -- HOWEVVA it quickly proved me wrong and I love it to death. Its a wonderfully cute movie. So I watch it every time HBO runs it now =p

I've been watching Adam & Joe Go Tokyo today. They're a cult British comedy duo who star in a number of shows on Channel 4. You've probably never heard of them. During one segment on each episode in this series they [Adam and Joe] try some random things to attempt to get famous in Japan. One episode they hire 10 girls to run over and scream and take pictures of them in the street. Within 15 minutes, there were hundreds crowding around them taking pictures, getting autographs and shouting that they love them. They had no idea who they were . Anyway, in this specific episode they write a song and play it in a park with wetsuits on (For no real reason). It actually works, to some extent. A television guy spots them and they end up playing it live on some TV show. It's all very sarcastic and tongue in cheek.

That concept sounds brilliant.
I actually have a bet with a friend and whoever gets famous first wins 10€. Takes a little bit more time than the idea of Adam and Joe, but it's still interesting^^
