That new song is really really good. If I had to make a reference to past work, it's giving me a rather ADULT kind of vibe.

Setting up iTunes seems to be very problematic for me right now. Is there any other way to preview these new tracks?

SWITCH had a 101 questions with Ringo segment if any Japanese-reading members want to check out. My scans here.

^thanks for the share! Quick and dirty translation; excuse my rusty Japanese:
1. First thing you do when you wake up in the morning? A: Hmm... These days I get woken up by my kid so it's quite certainly changing the diapers or feeding milk. 2. Japanese or western styled breakfast? A: Japanese style 3. Do you fall asleep quickly or slowly? A: I'm an insomniac. It's because of work (production). Occupational hazard (lol) 4. Any dreams you remember lately? A: Recording, recording, and finally completing the recording. 5. Things you decide on before you go to sleep? A: Revising lyrics. I get excited and I can't sleep. When I wake up I go through them again. I've recently stopped (the bad habit of) using my computer as a sleeping place. But still I end up going to my study and work on lyrics and before I know it it's morning. 6. How do you decide what to wear for the day? A: According to the day's agenda (TPO - time place occasion) 7. This might be a little contradictory, but is there a sort of fashion (style) or hair style that you think doesn't suit you (or that you don't like)? A: Mmmm I would like to say that there isn't. 8. Rules when you shop? A: Don't buy things that resemble what you already own. 9. Anything that you would never ever throw away? A: So many. 10. Is there anything that you've lost that you'd like to have back in your possession again? A: Even though I've heard them before -- records that were given to me in the past, I'm looking for them. 11. Which part of your house are you in the most? A: In front of the computer. It's depressing (lol). Cos I'm in the midst of production. 12. Long or short baths? A: Long baths 13. What sort of driver are you? A: Something about autobahn - help me out here! 14. Are there any cars you'd like to drive? A: Audi spider, or the Honda NSX. 15. A spot that you like in Tokyo? A: Kamirakuzaka 16. A place that you don't want to move out of? (need help with this one) A: Not at the moment. 17. What sort of place is New York to you? A: A strange place that I still cannot comprehend 18. What about South America? A: Paradise. 19. Which country (foreign location) would you want to go to most right now? A: Cuba, Argentina, Brazil. I know you said "the most" hahaha. 20. What about a place you would like to live in? A: A lot -- Hiroshima, Aomori, Kagoshima 21. What do you like about Japan? It's not a talkative place. (Or it could be "Where in Japan do you like?" - In which case the answer would be "A place that is not talkative/noisy") More to follow..... |

22. In contrast to the previous question, what don't you like about Japan?
A: Same answer as above (that it's not a talkative place) 23. A food that you've liked all your life? A: Carrot, Kinoko mushrooms, beans 24. And food that you've hated? A: So called delicacies, like bugs and such. 25. A dish that you're good at making? A: I like cooking vegetables in dashi with just a little bit of soya sauce (shoyuu) 26. What you'd like to eat for your last meal? A: Probably something drenched in sauce. Like Sanma (kind of fish). 27. An embarrassing phail moment of drunkenness? A: [need some context and nuance here!] Too many! On the WOWOW show (in May, in support of Gyakukyunyuu), with Kobayashi (Takeshi) and Ozawa (Shinichi) -- they said "I've heard a lot about you, that you're a serious person" [am assuming she drank tons to dispel the myth and they got pissed drunk - someone pls verify] 28. What's the first thing you'd like to do these days if you've free time? A: Go to South America, travel the world 29. What's the most beautiful scene you've witnessed so far in your life? A: While touring with TJ, Ukigumo was late one time, so our journey from Honshuu to Shikoku was delayed till the evening, and the sunset from the Seto Bridge was magical. It looked like what a path to heaven would look like. We forgave Ukigumo for his lateness. And also, Miyajima. I think there are still a lot of things that I don't know about Japan. 30. Looking back, do you think 1998 was the right time for your debut? A: Yup I think so. 31. Is there anything you'd change about your debut? A: There are a lot, but I think that there's always going to be something that you would want to change. 32. Do you remember the first time you heard your music on TV/radio? A: I remember hearing it in convenience stores, often. I think it was "koko de kiss shite" in East Nagano. For some reason I completely didn't encounter my debut song (koufukuron) or "kabukichou no joou" 33. What do you think you'd be doing if you didn't debut as a musician? A: Hmm, probably would have ended up in art school or something, I'm not sure either. 34. Where did the name "Kronekodow" come from? A: We wanted to give the feeling of being ruled by Goethe (name of her cat). 35. What kind of existence do you think a cat leads? <what an odd question> A: An interesting existence. It's hard to describe. 36. Any superstition that you've believed in all your life? A: I make a lot of demos but it's not exactly an everyday kind of existence. You have to be free, from whatever. (I don't quite get this) 37. Although you don't see this on an everyday basis, is there a hidden side to your personality? A: I believe that I show all parts of myself in each, different situation. ーーーthere's a followup question that I don't quite get; think it's about avoiding the question? Or answering vaguely? A: There was when I first started out! Even though i've tried hiding this in the past, <something something>. There are time, with Jihen, that I've had to be like "Guys, we HAVE to do this!" 38. Any bad habits or quirks that you've had since the past? A: Answering questions vaguely? (lol) 39. Have you committed any taboos recently? A: Dissing the deadline and going to NYC with Sayuri (!!) 40. What do you think your selling point is? A: I'm not sure.... I'm not overly persistent? 41. What's your oldest memory? A: I'm not sure.... Does anybody actually answer this properly? 42. What's your favourite part of your body? (-.-) A: Eh? Body part? I don't have one. 43. Least favourite part? (ffs) A: There's always something that can be better everywhere, but really, not any one part in particular. 44. Rate your athleticism on a scale of 5. A: About 3. <and some followup explanation i dont quite get> 45. If you could have one magic power? (Her 2011 power was splitting herself into multiple entities) A: 36 years worth of education, brains, physicality, values, from 5 different countries 46. Is there anything you would change completely about the world's system or infrastructure? A: Energy-distribution 47. Anything amusing these days? A: Crazy Ken Band's live show was very funny! 48. Last time you cried, and why? A: Something about carrying her baby to tears (obviously). My niece played a difficult Schubert piece at a piano recital and that moved me to tears. ADDENDUM: I got lazy, so I'm just gonna summarise some other more interesting bits in the latter half of the interview: - The adam's apple is the part of a man's body that turns her on the most - She'd totally be a man if she could choose her sex in her next life - She often writes songs with a particular artist's image in mind -- "onna no ko" was inspired by Matsuura Aya, and "Carnation" by Sayuri - Momoi Kaori is her idea of the ideal woman - She loves Tetris, and is into Russian music (?!) now - She finds it most memorable when fans mix up her song titles -- like "Shiina Ringo's Hormones" and "Yokubou" (desire; likely a mix up for "Honnou") - She expresses regret that they'll probably play Honnou at her funeral - She apparently forgot the lyrics to Bokoku joucho completely once during the dynamite tour Last edited by gekokujyo : 2014.10.24 at 12:17 AM. |

Thanks for all of the translations, gekokujyo!
Today's Music Station should be a good watch. Ukigumo and H Zett M performed with her. |
