found that image, I can't read the details but it seems like this new song will be used in TWO commercials, another mint one and then a Shiseido make up one.....that can't be right, do they use the same song for two commercials? |

Urgh. I think this marks the point where I stop recommending her to people and keep KZK as a secret in my collection, an incomprehensibly beautiful piece of art obviously made by accident. I don't even think I can stomach SS and other songs I loved now that I have to associate it with the likes of this.

if i had a band, i'd have no problems doing commercial tie ins if the product is appropriate to the song.
a band is a business. some of the fans that cry 'sell outs' are also the ones who dont buy the albums legitmately. so who else is going to put the bread on the table? |

I just got word the new TJ album is going to be called Nisan Altima!
Sounds like its going to have tight handling and a comfortable album interior! Nook: There's plenty of fans that do "legitimately buy" the cds that also mind selling out, what about them? Do the bad apples just spoil the bunch? There's plenty of ways for a band to sell out/make money on the side without cashing out every new single to be in an ad (or make a song for an ad, which, when you're practically naming your song the product it's selling, looks like the case.)

Ringo's done Gillette, Suntory, nail polish, and a soy milk ad in her granny panties in her solo days. Sell out stigma isnt as strong in Japan as it is here in the U.S. I suppose. Cross product promotion being mutually beneficial. Selling out almost seems forgivable if its an attractive woman doing the promotions. I'd be wrong is I said Ringo was doing commercials for the money because she has no other talent other than looking good. She still writes engaging music, the rest of the band aside. So I'm supportive and mostly indifferent thinking 'eh, do whatever...but dont retire!' I'm enjoying my 2011 Honda Vampire Holiday! |
