One other thing I thought is that she could be refering to the Gibson guitars. She does a lot of guitar references in other songs, so... why not? Altough it's not normal to abreviate it to "Gibs" and the japanization of the word is "ギブソン (gi-bu-so-n)"...
Maybe she wanted to blend the two words? Gips with Gibson? |

^ nahh... I don't think that's it, she would have done gibuson.
Maou, then why on her official site (where, I presume, the translations of songs are done by her), is it Gips? Is that just wrong and we can't trust it? This is one of those times where I wish I could just email her up and ask. |

Yes, I feel the site and the CD are wrong. It's Gibs, Gibbs or Gibusu.

naahhh... I disagree. The only thing we know for sure is "Gibusu." There's no reason to think it's "Gibs" (not a word) or even "Gibbs" (no reason to go that direction). And I don't think she'd put false translations on her site. A lot of those translations are really idiosyncratic (like, you see them and think "classic Ringo"); no one else could have made them. And I'm pretty sure she oversaw the jewel case for the single as well. She's very deliberate and wouldn't let stuff just slip by if it was wrong.

Well, it's a known error to write Gibusu instead of Gipusu, but both are supposed to mean the same. Maybe she went with Gibusu because she prefered the sound of it despite knowing it's an error.

Once again, there's a difference between her name being spelled a bunch of different ways, and a specific word meaning she was going for. She had to mean only one thing by it, and I want to know what it was!

The meaning was definitely "Gips, "Plaster Cast", "Gypsum". Proof of that is that the official english translation is "Gips".
She chose to write "Gibusu" because she preferes the corrupted version of the word. I think this makes sense, no? |

I agree with "Gips" and "Gypsum," and that she enjoys using the 'wrong' version of the word (Gibusu), but not "Plaster Cast", because of what the Japanese wiki said. Again maybe she meant the mineral gypsum?
