that's awesome. really. i often get, "were you high when you drew this?" and it gets me so angry that people assume you have to get high to come up with something out of the ordinary.
this is now another reason why i love SR. |

Wow, that's quite an interview. She could quite possibly be telling her whole life story here
Thanks, clakaz. Now could someone pleeeeeeeeeeeease translate some interesting points? There's bound to be something juicy. Btw, she has such a nice smile =P Last edited by Scribble R : 2009.07.12 at 07:11 AM. |

randomly picked up
part 3 7:00-8:30 *about negative images of "gossip" A taboo not talkable to closest persons. Shiina mentions Kirino Natsuo's novel 東京島"Tokyo-tou"(or Tokyo-jima). A wowan and about thirteen men are left on an uninhabited island. That woman is 40-something-aged and not so beauty but inevitable to be sex object. While bathing, she observe men's genitals condition who see her naked body. That psychology of woman is vividly written. Shiina wanted show these too cheap to be even gossips, things behind gossips using sound as tools. |

Emil-san picked a very good and complex part of interview, very subdued. I think you could draw some comparisons between the woman in the island tale and her situation as a pop idol in her teens and early twentys. Both have very clear that their increased "disirebleness", "atractiviness", etc. are due to some special situations that they don't have control over. In one case, being the sole woman, even not beautifull or young, with a bunch of men in a isolated island. In other case, the whole nature of entertainment industry and the fact that you are young. And a girl.

"My Life in Tokyo Jihen"
her life in the music industry. she's very observant. she isnt model-caliber beauty, but when she on stage, she's the focus as the only woman, so the view as a sex thing is ineveitable. a relativity theory? surrounding herself with men only help/worsens the situation.
