Honda's free kick was nice, but Endo's was a thing of beauty. Endo had the best goal of the World Cup so far. It was heartbreaking for Italy to be eliminated in the first round, but I was still happy to see Ghana, South Korea, and Japan advance. It was also extremely pleasing to see all the problems with France. Still, I doubt Ireland enjoyed it very much.

Thanks goes out to japan for demolishing the Danes.
Oneof the Danish flags during the match had "whers da swedes" written over it. :-( |

World Cup log:
Denmark 1 x 3 Japan Cameroon 1 x 2 Netherlands Slovakia 3 x 2 Italy Paraguay 0 x 0 New Zealand Portugal 0 x 0 Brazil North Korea 0 x 3 Ivory Coast Chile 1 x 2 Spain Switzerland 0 x 0 Honduras Next round Netherlands x Slovakia Brazil x Chile Paraguay x Japan Spain x Portugal The right bracket (where Japan is) will have a lot of classics. The left bracket has just one in potencial (Brazil x Netherlands), but, off course, this is a WC where an underdog have plenty of possibility to put off an upset. |

Well, the USA doesn't live up to expectations yet again. Honestly the better team won. Ghana is better than the USA. The USA shouldn't have even gotten out of group play. Dempsey is terrible and flops more than anybody on the Italian club. Jozy Altidore was supposed to be the next big thing. Everybody said, "The USA finally has a 'footballer' in Jozy!" Didn't live up to the hype. He was in poor condition and labored through every match. Couldn't even man it out in extra time in an elimination game.
BTW, that bullshit at the end of the game is why soccer/football will never be popular in the US. Ghana player goes down for no reason, stays down wasting several minutes, and then jogs off 30 seconds later like nothing happened. That's shit. It's why superior rules in other sports actually stop the clock instead of adding inaccurate stoppage time.

Can't wait for the Germany-England match!
Ghana scored two nice goals today... USA tried but Kingson's just way too good at his job.

Ghana's goals were indeed nice but felt like a coincidence, even though Ghana overall was the better team, faster and... better. :-). But the game was dead boring. Games like these should end at 45 minutes! I realized there were only 4 corners in total late in the second half.
Eng-Ger will be more interesting because these two teams would hate to lose more than Ghana/USA - so should be a better game? |

I thought the US v Ghana match was really exciting. USA's defence was poor, and they typically had trouble finishing opportunities. Altidore was really poor. And their spirit seemed to yoyo between lazy and fighting every half. When they put the pressure on in the second half, Ghana looked nervous. But in the end the better team won.
Really looking forward to today's match, for obvious reasons. If it's a massive failure, well, at least I have a BBQ!
