I've been browsing some Chinese Pop music for the past few days. Found an interesting Taiwanese singer-songwriter called Zhang Xuan (English name: Deserts).

Zhang Xuan 張懸 - Baobei 寶貝 (Treasure/Precious)

According to this interview (Chinese), the above song was written at 13 following an argument with her mother. She ran away from home (temporarily), and the song came to her when she wanted to sing a song for comfort and to convince herself that nothing's wrong with her.

The song is unusual for pop music in that it appears to be sung from the point of view of a parent to a child (their precious).

That album was so disappointing. And it's not the lack of guitars, or the use of synths. I quite like the melodies and the music. Karen O just feels so... non-Karen O. The album is pretty laid back considering the title. I just wanted more aggression.

It's not on par with both of their previous albums, but I don't think it's as terrible as some people have been making it out to be.
