My favorite songs from the first albums that I bought right after they were released. Tull and The Floyd were the first two bands I was a big fan of. I owned all of their stuff. |

CLT - Faye Wong, Ashura ...
Belated thanks for the Faye Wong discussion above ^^ ... I got Fable as I fancied something orchestral-electronic after lately acquiring HF (I've only been an SR fan for 9 months), but of course that album is mainly songs we already know. This is my first listen to Fable and it's excellent so far ! |

Glad we sparked your interest...
I only hope you weren't expecting something like HF because the two are so very different, Fable (the first, song cycle half of the album) reminds me of trip-hop whereas HF had a clear focus on the orchestra. Have you listened to "Felt Mountain" by Goldfrapp? There's nothing out there that reminds me of that album, it sounds that unique to me - save for "Han wu ji" (The Cambrian Period, Fable's opening track)... you might try that out as well (don't expect orchestra though, just a 40s-ish retro trippy dreamy listening experience) I've also been listening to Susumu Yokota's "Sakura" album quite a bit these days and it's a wonderful piece of ambient. If anyone's into that, I can only recommend this very beautiful album. |

Aztec Camera - High Land, Hard Rain (album)
If musicians stopped making new music, it would still be impossible to fully appreciate every album ever made in this world, during one normal human being life time. The catalogue of available music in the world is probably bigger than the world itself. The same for movies, books or whatever. I guess videogames are the one "form of art" where this doesn't apply, yet. Not to mention this Aztec Camera album from 1983 sounds like everything that's been made in the last couple of years. Crazy world. Last edited by ShinjiPG : 2009.04.03 at 02:57 AM. |
