OMGoodness I love this. Thanks for posting it!

I've often wondered how a crazy nearly-polysynthetic language like Finnish would work when singing in a song, but this it sounds completely normal and gorgeous. Now I want a CD. :X

I thought the polysynthetic-analytic distinction is more related to the grammar: something to do with the word-morphemes ratio. Wouldn't it be the phonology that affects how a language will be sung?

It was thinking more on the lines of how the language would sound when they have to fit their crazy long words to music. Sure you can split it all into syllables, but I wondered if they'd be able to fit succinct lines to what we consider a traditional pop song styles. (especially in the cases where things like prepositional phrases and the like are completely integrated into things like the subject or verb. I would think that that wouldn't give much leverage for like, short lines or dramatic pauses or what not.) Of course I don't know if they play with the syntax at all for lyrics, but it seems like it worked out fine.

But then I've also never really heard nor investigated how a polysynthetic language sounds spoken, when I found some Mohawk language TV segments today. It blows my mind actually hearing it spoken like a real language and not just greetings, swear words and numbers here and there. It really makes me want to learn it that much more now. Not just as a "polysynthetic languages are crazy" or a "keep my culture's language alive", but as a way to actually communicate with people. (even though they all know English anyway...) >.>;

Edit: I'm listening to this!

Cindy Tells Me

I was a bit infatuated with this song before, so I may have posted it before... but I've found it again. It's lovely, just like Brian Eno.

Wheee

I haven't been as enthralled with or given goosebumps by a live performance often, (Others include The Smith's "What She Said" 1986 tour, Ringo's Tadashii Machi whenever, LUNA SEA's Imitation 2000 live, Jaurim's you and me, and the Wonder Girls/Big Bang mashup.) so this is fabulous. I knew that Siva was one of their heavier songs, but with it speeded up like this I didn't know they could rock out as much as they do.

I had that riff in my head for a week before looking up youtube covers today. Man, even the kids shows in the 90's had rawkin music.

Black Lace - Superman

I think 90% of my memories of Primary/Junior school involve this song, amongst a few others.
