I still prefer 'Is This It' with 'Room On Fire' a close second. 'First Impressions' was disappointing. Not bad, just disappointing. I've only listened to his solo record twice so far but it's made a more positive first impression than 'First Impressions' did. It does only have 8 tracks though. 'Glass' is fantastic!

I really liked the preview video for Phrazes, and began to anticipate the album. Alas, I haven't gotten round to listening to it yet. I'm always like this -- listening to a new album is a major investment for me. Still trying to get through 'Lungs'

whee

I've only really liked Placebo through their woooooooonderful cover of T.Rex's 20th Century Boy on the Velvet Goldmine soundtrack, and I kinda liked their Smiths and Depeche Mode covers. But I never really got into their music. But after watching Cruel Intentions (bad movie but it had Sarah Michelle Gellar in it, and I like Buffy.) I found this song! I loooove Brian Molko's voice. And it's pretty awesome -- the CD stores in Korea have Placebo stocked more readily than those in my town. So yaay, I will be able to pick up a CD or two of theirs soon.

CLT Bonnie Pink - Mad Afternoon

I nearly forgot how good an album this is. It's like all the songs were composed and arranged in collaboration with a rain cloud and an umbrella.

It was only a flash of brilliance though. I don't like her other albums nearly as much. I don't know how all of it went down the drain.

Wat.

Not even the vastly superior Daisy EP or Even So? Not Ready from the Daisy EP is her best work, but the only live I see of it on youtube isn't so hot so another song will suffice. Daisy is my least favorite song on the EP, but it's still one of her best songs:

Bonnie Pink - Daisy

Not even the vastly inferior Even So.

It's not a bad album, if you like that sort of thing. It's just that it does absolutely nothing for me. It's bland in comparison to HK, which has great melodies, the 60s/Soul/RnB tinge and rainy atmosphere, while Even So's tracks edge closer to sunny J-Pop ballads which I'm not particularly a fan of. Heaven's Kitchen is a tighter album -- I like most tracks (A rare occurance which is why BP was such a hidden gem for me) while any song that I might have found interesting in Even So is drowned out by not necessarily bad, but unmemorable songs.

What tracks do you like the most on that album?

Daisy up there is 'nice' but not particularly memorable, although the 'dulladoodoo' part may make me revisit it and perhaps change my opinion.

Let Go has a good, Heaven's Kitchen-esque first half.
