^ I think you started loving Metro because it's a good song.....or you just have a thing for Uki.... one of those two, I think.

this is how Variety shows up on my mp3 player:
Well, its title is "Variety + HF Compilation" -- a catchy title. 1) Pinnochio 2) Senkou Shojou 3) Fukushuu 4) Kaban no Nakami 5) Hatsukoi Shojou 6) Kono yo ni Kagiri 7) Put Your Camera Down ...that'll do pig. I toyed with including Gamble...but there's no such occasion where I'd opt for the HF ver over the original. Thats a...decent EP i guess, or mini-album.

I liked the song so why is it shocking that Jihad would like it? You do realize that the Trio of Terror was formed because we all had very similar taste in what we like in SR/TJ music, right? That's also why JR doesn't quite fit in with us.

Haha, we only share the Uki hate. Seriously. I can't stand him.
I think on this board I'm closest to golem09 in musical tastes. We're both huge on SOIL&"PIMP"SESSIONS (and also The Observatory!), which unfortunately not many people seem to care a lot about. What a pity.

Also, it's weird how we can share a Super compatibility rating on Lastfm but be at complete odds on what we like about TJ and SR ^___^. I think this is what makes Ringo awesome. |

Not that anyone cares, but I like Senkou Shoujo because it sounds authentic. No honky tonk bip-bop ducklike guitar noises that (I feel) ruined songs like Boutomin and SS/AW and Metro that might have sounded less obnoxious if handled differently.
And Uki really has no business singing. Ever. Even if his life depended on it. But I guess if a baby or kitten's life depended on it. I don't dislike him quite as much as the Triad of Trouble (or whatever you guys are calling yourselves) does, but he needs to stick to the guitar. Listening to Adult (sorry Lena), I get the impression that he's actually quite competent when he leaves those weird duck noises by the wayside and just plays. |

Wow, that's what makes Uki awesome two. How he can have people on such opposite poles. I absolutely love the "ducklike guitar noises". Sure, I prefer what he did on ADULT better, but I'll take a spinoff like Variety too. And, about the competent thing, I think you should know that he is very competent at playing the guitar, you just don't like the sound he makes with it. One thing I've noticed more and more is that the way he and Hirama play is very similar. A lot of the time they play on a sort of "burst" mode instead of being set to "automatic". The only difference is just their tone and the sounds that they make with these "bursts." I until I came to know all their songs inside and out, I was under the impression that Hirama played much more differently than he does just because the whole sound of the band was much louder and in your face. But if you pay close attention, it's very similar to Uki's style (unless there is some guitar technicality which I am oblivious to, in which case, please educate me).

I've got to say, I quite enjoy the ducklike guitar sound too. It's a refreshing change of pace to a lot of rock guitar out there. I absolutely love the guitar work in Metro.
Don't get me wrong, I love a good wailing rock sound, but I've always preferred a boppy, honky tonk sound. That's always what I gravitated towards. (To give the classic rock analogy, I think Clapton is great, but I've always liked Harrison's guitar style better.) |
