I'm glad I'm not the first here to pimp Marina and the Diamonds, so I won't re-link her videos since they've been posted. I think EMF would dig her stuff (Mowgli's Road, Oh No!, Are you Satisfied.) The album's class and ranges from pure pop to some nigh operatic pieces, all with a rather subversive message.

I still love this album and am indebted to EMF for turning me on to Marina & the Diamonds. I'm excited that she'll be recording again soon, and I hope that means another album is coming in 2011.

Meanwhile, I'm listening to the National's end-of-the-year album list favorite High Violet, partly to challenge my blanket dismissal of remotely recent indie rock, but it is about as awful as I expected.

just picked at random and I'm really liking it though it's hard to find much for her.

Just read she was on Utaite Myouri and I think she was also in the Utaime picture book too? (she's the one with the big teeth if I recall?).
