I post about .000001% of the salsa I actually listen to, based on presumed lack of interest, but anyway--

@Superficial fan: that's actually a really good tune. Might just get me started on Salsa music. Why do you listen to so much salsa though? Are you a salsa dancer?
@Tesla: Love that tune. Thank you. CLT: Damned youtube removed a brilliant video of Smokey Robinson and Aretha Franklin singing Ooh Baby baby... But thank god they didn't remove this.

This has become one of my favorite youtube salsa dancing clips. I prefer good social salsa dancing to the stage performance stuff, which tends to be embarrassing, even when the dancers have good technique. I don't think it's meant for the stage. Much of the image associated with salsa dancing is unnecessarily cheesy.
If you do investigate salsa, you're probably safer focusing on things from no later than the early 80s, or even from before the 80s. Which is not to say there isn't anything great after that point, just that the peak years were probably mid-60s through early 80s.
Killer piano solo, along with everything else:
(Uh oh, what are the forum rules about youtube embeds per post? I'm going to bed before I post more.) Last edited by Superficial Fan : 2011.02.28 at 09:11 PM. |
