I hope so, although we got a bunch of recycled tracks on Chimera (even though they were my favourite tracks on the album) so I'm not getting my hopes up.

I've only heard 3355411, which I really enjoy, so no qualms there. I guess tracks being recycled isn't a huge deal to people that haven't heard those tracks before

Was painful to write this. This year's Sunny on the disappointment scale.

Yeah, it's on Spotify. My first impressions are not good at all. First track feels like she wants to dip her toes into electronics and I don't feel like it really works, but at the very least it feels like experimentation. The ballads are all pretty melodramatic and unremarkable, although I quite liked "Hometown Sick". Pop Life and Brilliant Blue (ooh, flutes!) are cool. Nyanda Aitsu is probably a joke track but it was also my favourite track on first listen. It's cute and it's fun. Let it Die sounds like that brief time circa 2011 when all the american rock bands decided they had to have "dubstep influences" (is that harsh?). There's some really corny guitar bits in there but at least the chord progressions are cool. Also the percussion just feels small and tinny to me. "Boku wo Kyuusai Suru Uta" is a bit "shonen-anime-closing-credits" but I didn't think it was as cringeworthy as DG seems to think. None of the album has the energy or sense of urgency that tracks like Usotsuki to Salvador or Drink Me has. Kumonoito comes close, but I'd still rather listen to tricot or something. 3355411 is still great.
I can see why people would like it and maybe it'll grow on me but it's definitely not the album I was hoping for. I still believe in her talent though. I'm sure if I listen to it more I'll pick up on more things I like, but honestly, I can't see myself listening to it more than once or twice. |

Damn Thanks for your impressions, too. Still need to listen to it. I liked her previous EPs and "Chimera", so it's disappointing to hear this isn't up to par.
