Anyone ever watched/read Hikaru no Go? I liked that series up till the point Sai disappeared, after that I just stopped reading the book.

Yes, totally. Except Shion goes a bit overboard sometimes.... but it's an awesome show nonetheless.

I'm a big Miyazaki Fan, I can't wait for his 10th Film and here's hoping to many more after that.
I find it difficult to select my favourite Miyazaki Film though, more often than not it has to be said my favourite is whatever is sitting in my DVD player. That said, push comes to shove, If I HAD to choose then totoro would probably be justified. I recently just watched the most recent Ghibli Film, Gedo Senki - directed by his son and I was a little uncertain about it because of the bad press (although I don't know why I would place any currency in the Japanese reviews). After watching I thought it was good, perhaps better than that, if you allow for it being Goro's first film. There was certainly something lacking in the characters that usually leaps out of you from Hayao's films and the opportunity to show off great colourful artwork was wasted due to the 'town scenes' being relatively minimal (and when they were in the town the colours and details were amazing). That said, I have to admit that I was not totally sold on Howl's - Hayao's last film for example. As beautiful as it was, the last part of that film seemed rushed. Gedo Senki, IMO deserves it's place in the Ghibli catalogue though and I would like to see Goro try his hand at another film, with perhaps him trying a different approach to things (or be allowed to try) as I think perhaps. **Oops and like I need to point out - I'm a great fan of Akira! Slam Dunk is definitely my fav anime. Superb characters, a plot with lots of comic relief and it introduced me to play basketball.
