Interesting experiment if Tokyo Jihen leaves a void in anyone's musical life: Pick two tracks from a J-Rock album, two tracks from a J-RnB album, two tracks from a J-Pop album, two tracks from a J-Jazz album, two random tracks from two random anime OSTs, and two tracks from a J-Electronic pop album, stick 'em in a playlist and shuffle them. Repeat once a year and enjoy.
I wish you could come up with an equally simple recipe for the lack of classic SR, though. That's why I can't see why anyone would find this news (TJ disbanding) tragic! |

I don't think their disbandment was tagic at all, the quality of their last 3 albums was continuously deteriorating. i'll do miss their live performances though, I honestly think they were one of the best live bands in the world (god, it's hard talking about them in past tense)

While I have never been disappointed by any SR solo release, I have also never been enthusiastic about any TJ. Hopefully her output will be of higher average quality now that her talent is less diluted.

I honestly don't care at all about Tokyo Jihen disbanding. Not until we hear what's next for Ringo.

Am I the only one who's glad that TJ is disbanding?
This break up was long overdue. So to me this is GREAT NEWS! Now SR can finally move on to better things!

Okay, I am incredibly sad to hear this, because I really love Tokyo Jihen. What kills me the most is that I never got to see them live. I really want to change this by going to the Budokan live on February 28th.
Sadly... I have no clue how to get a hold of a ticket. I bet this has been asked a million times before, but how do I go about doing it? I'd rather not deal with scalpers or auctions, but other than that money's not really an issue. |

Booo, there goes my favorite band. Good thing they at least released a decent amount of stuff. Kinda saw it coming with all of the hints, but it was still shocking to hear the news. Oh well, life goes on.

See, I always told myself if there was going to be a "farewell" concert, I would use all my life savings to fly to Japan and see it.
But I won't do that for a TJ farwell concert. I'll wait for Shiina's final concert (or something comparable like Ringo Expo 08 = Ringo Expo '18?) EDIT: In retrospect, I too am disappointed with where the band went. I'm not gonna lie, I enjoyed post-Adult Phase 2. But in 10 years, where is TJ's music going to be in my music library? Is it going to be able to stand up next to stuff like Vespertine, Kid A, and Rubber Soul (just to name a few)? For post-Adult Phase 2, the answer is absolutely not. I probably won't even listen to those albums in 10 years. I'll always remember when I was on another J-Music forum catering to the mainstream (read: idols), and somebody had a thread going for TJ. The comments, and the users associated with them (read: boyband fans) were ridiculously shallow. And I thought: wait, something isn't right here. Last edited by TurtleFu : 2012.01.10 at 07:12 PM. |

Well if between today and tomorrow is a sign of the next phase, its gonna be a welcome ride. TJ I will miss for various reasons, and there won't be any releases for us to have our arguments about, so I imagine emf will get quiet more frequently unless solo Ringo continues pretty soon
