Cool news
I guess it's settled, Ringo will only write songs for tv shows and other musicians from now on.
Btw, I'm guessing that's 24 June 2009?

Yes

I think it can be understood if the singer is Tomosaka Rie
But Izawa and You-Know-Who

Oh I just noticed the second song, "Tokai no Manaa" (City Manners), is arranged by Tokyo Jihen and not just (solo) Shiina Ringo.
Hope it doesn't turn out like "Amagasa" or "Hyori Hime"...
Well, but it's still a good album to look for.

I saw this on oricon website a moment ago and at first I thought I was looking at some old news piece from 2000. So those two are still friends, hmm?

what is this, Variety the EP? I wonder if this work is Variety composed stuff that never got used. I'm not so sure how I feel about all this composing for other artists. If that her future it would be nice if she could at least declare Jihen dead.

What's been true about Tomosaka Rie CDs in the past, is that most of her tracks are below-Variety except for the ones composed by Shiina Ringo. Then there's Rie Tomosaka Best - which was anything but her best. The only Ringo-composed track they included on that album got horribly remixed.

Shoujo Robot (the single as a whole) was a masterpiece though, and I continue to believe it is one of the most undervalued singles (of any artists) on Yahoo! Japan Auctions. In a country where most people don't want to pay retail for new copies of Shoujo Robot or half-retail for used, people pay retail for used copies of Murasaki, and double-retail for new. It's this exotic obscurity that gets ignored by the majority of Tomosaka Rie collectors and the majority of Shiina Ringo collectors.

Here's to hoping that Tomosaka Rie's output doesn't go from bad to worse with this latest album. For the most part, I'd rather stare at her than listen to her 'art'. I have a photobook for doing exactly that.

BTW, Rie has been missing since 2001 or so, hasn't she? Now she must be an old idol xD.

I dunno. I think Hirosue Ryoko is looking better with age.

*edit*
Okay, so I go to check the "Rie Tomosaka" listings at CD Japan, and I see this at the top of the listing:
Birthday: 1979/10/12
Height: 168cm
Bust Size: 78cm
Waist Size: 56cm
Hip Size: 81cm
So does this officially mean she's an object, then?
