I feel speed of light was more like the best album YUKI never made (by her) than outclassing every YUKI album. That amount of playfulness and rawness will never show up in any of YUKI's work but it is pretty hard to overlook the likeness in styling and vocal choices even. YUKI can cover almost any song on the album and it wouldn't take anything from it; just swap their vocals.
I can't agree with your statement on the electro-pop songs. I don't think any two have had the exact same impact on me, Joy doesn't resonate with me the same as Negai Yume, Hoshikuzu Sunset or Chinese Girl. Hadaka no Taiyou is actually the only YUKI electro-pop song that often just fades from memory when the subject comes up. The song sounds mistakable for any random real upbeat song from an electro-pop artist; you can play it in unison with parts of SAWA's "I CAN FLY" and not be able to tell which song is which til either artist starts singing. I actually like I can fly too. Any one listened to the Mean Machine stuff by the way? So disgusting rough. I was foaming at the mouth when I first heard "Lucky star". I ate it up. I dunno, i always found YUKI's vocals a bit sloppy/slow sounding (the same reason I don't like Salyu). Mariko is much tighter/faster and actually sounds like she wants to.be there. IMO of course.

^Plus when she sings, she makes me feel like I'm cuddling a cute, petite Japanese schoolgirl. I FUCKING LOVE HER. For me, she's the only female singer that rivals Ringo.
JAM's S/T and WARP are masterpieces though! Last edited by Inseu : 2012.11.12 at 03:30 PM. |

I really like Salyu's vocals but the ballads! THE BAALLLLAAAAAaaDDDsSsSS!! I can't take all those ballads. Soundbeams was hot though. I think YUKI is a solid and interesting singer, but Mariko has more range than her hands down. Doroon, the intro and outro showcase that pretty well.
I find it funny that you find YUKI's vocals to be soulless, Dead lolol. I love her lives. |

I know, but that doesn't matter. I still listen to Tokyo Jihen after Hata beat up someone.

That wasn't my point :/ I was curious if you were as shocked as I was when I found out. I know the band due to the band two of the members formed after their dissolve, but never listened to them- one of them was in that band Hearts Grow, my friend likes them.
