Your Favorite Album of 2007
It's 2008 and I've already sent out a couple of faxes from my job dating 1/3/07 @_@. This got me thinking about the year in review and brought up this topic.
What is your favorite album of 2007??? For me, it is Shiina Ringo's Heisei Fuzoku. It was a tough choice, but this is the album that was released last year that I played the most. I have enjoyed it all year through and through. When I came out I had recently found out about Ringo and I noticed a couple songs I knew already were on there so I figured she had not released an album with them yet so I ordered the album and felt lucky that I caught an artist still on her prime. When I got it I had one of the biggest surprises I've ever had. I had not really looked into her or her discography at all asides from hearing songs from Youtube, so when I heard the songs orchestrated I was . I love orchestrated music but I wish they had vocals and this is exactly what that is. And it's not just typical orchestrated music, it has jazz influences and such, and pop feel to it as well. It was perfect for me. Runners up were: 1. The Hives - The Black and White Album 2. Tokyo Jihen - Variety |

Kutiman's self-titled LP.
Our lives are too short by Outlines. In Rainbows by Radiohead. The Very Best of Ethiopiques by Ethiopiques. América Brasil by Seu Jorge. (I'm especially loving track #4 Burguesinha!)

Yeah, June to be specific. I think it's his best since Flaming Pie, which was the best since Tug of War. Every 10 to 15 years he puts out a doozie. Let's see, his next one should be due when he's about 75.

So much New Music this year! My year started out perfectly with my discovery of Sean Lennon's Friendly Fire (it's probably not a 07 album, though).
Best albums off the top of my head: Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Is Is Black Kids - Wizard of ahhhs The Blow - Paper Television Feist - The Reminder The White Stripes - Icky Thump Asobi Seksu - Citrus Sally Shapiro - Disco Romance Heisei doesn't make the list cause while I love most of the songs on this album, some of the recycled songs prevent me from fully embracing the cd. Someone make a "Best Tracks of 2007" thread so I can soothe my guilt by putting some Shiina on it.
