Still listening to Abbey Road, half way through the medley. First most striking thing to me was the bass in Come Together. So clear and smooth. Altogether it all sounds really clean and warm. The music is breathing much more. It's still subtle though; they haven't totally changed the sound or anything but it's easily noticeable. I'm hearing little bits I hadn't heard before. I Want You (She's So Heavy) sounds really powerful, especially towards the end. The low-end is really weighty. It's actually pretty astonishing that this was recorded 50 years ago.
I really need my headphones, but my brother took them on holiday and it's too late too play it really loud Edit: Holy Shit @ Sgt Peppers (the song). Edit 2: Sgt Peppers (the album) had an even bigger effect on me. It is so, so clear. It actually sounds fucking gorgeous. Even better than I expected.

The writer clearly misunderstood the point. The irony of course \the kind of people that would want the things in that article, probably already have got them. (and no mention of Carnival of Light??) =p
Heading out to get my box set/albums!! =D EDIT: Christ, how hard was it to get the box set out of the paper cover???

"Please Please Me" (the song)'s remaster is fantastic. Worth the price of admission...for its album.
EDIT: "Do you want to know a Secret"s too. Cant wait to get to Twist & Shout! While lots of people are interested in the remasters for Pepper, Abbey Road, Revolver; those early-Beatle fans out there still should be super duper interested. The only thing that more ancient than Please Please Me on LP is hearing how it sounded on the original CD. This is the early Beatles like you literally had never heard before (even if you had seen em in person play.) EDIT 2: Shouldn't be the last edit til someone also posts. All the discs are great because each of them keep the original LP liner notes (including Yellow Submarine's hilarious write up which has nothing to do with the actual album and everything to do with the White Album.) Even more surprising is that every booklet has pictures even I have never seen before. Im not being paid to write this stuff, honest. EDIT 3: Say there's a letter, a letter fo' me-e! Gotta remember not to sing over the songs. On the first run-through anyway. EDIT 4: Anyone get the Mono box?
