I just checked out the new Tricot album. Not bad at all. They sound like Te' with vocals. Overall, I felt the album could have used more variety, if not that, then a shorter runtime. Towards the end everything started to sound very similar. I'm eager to hear what they'll come up with next. There's a lot of potential here.

Every Australia Day, our local "alternative" (I use that term very fucking lightly nowadays) radio station, Triple J, plays the hottest 100 as voted by the Australian public.

As expected, so far (currently up to 80) it has been dominated by Hipster-hop, indie rock and *shudders* Aussie hip hop (the worst possible genre of music of all time IMHO). The 'metal' so far has been the Tool rip off, Karnivool and some emo shit. Blegh. Though I will still listen to see how high Reflektor gets (I expect to see it at least in the top 20, or even top 10).

For a bit of nostalgia and to ready myself for this years Hottest 100, I just re-listened to the compilation of "Hottest 100 1995" and it's dead set proof that the 'alternative' music scene no longer exists, at least in the sense of it being the alternative to the pop stations. The lines are totally blurred, a lot of the stuff played so far is now played on EVERY radio station (well, except the classical or talkback ones).

The results of the top 10:
10. London Grammar- Strong
9. The Preatures- Is This How You Feel?
8. Matt Corby- Resolution
7. Lana Del Rey- Young and Beautiful
6. Arctic Monkeys- Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High
5. Flume and Chet Faker- Drop the Game
4. Arctic Monkeys- Do I Wanna Know?
3. Daft Punk- Get Lucky
2. Lorde- Royals
1. Vance Joy-Riptide.

Reflektor came in 16. Pretty much every single Chvrches single showed up in the 100 countdown. I'm suprised that Lana Del Rey got so high up, I thought people hated her (which is pretty pathetic, I find her quite interesting at the very least, and her name font/persona and song themes matches the font/themes of Mulholland Drive which is cool). Riptide is pretty lame song, wtf Australian public...

So apparently Yeah Yeah Yeahs released an album in 2013. It is called Mosquito. I have not heard a single thing about it. So I'm guessing it's pretty bad, yeah?
(I did hear Sacrilege, which was pretty good)

Yeah, that album is sucky in a completely different way to this one. Both suck equally to me though. Though I'm not in the minority when it comes to Mosquito, there's a lot of people that agree on its suckage.

Yeah I imagine. It's too bad they went from Album of the Year status to something that doesn't even get mentioned as notable.

Two very good albums from Kinoco Hotel last years I missed.

Now their discography plus the DVD is on JPS in lossless format!
