Rewatched talk with Mummy-d, I think SR confuse Carmen Maki for Asakawa Maki.
* An offer from Maboroshi in 2008 * 0:10-0:35 SR "When I recieved offer (from Maboroshi) last year, I thought my life is on the upswing. While I watched likes 'Soul Train' when I was middle school, many people saw me as sub-culture-ish, Golden Gai-ish. I was glad to know there is a person(Mummy-D) who exactly understand me" Poet Nejime Shoichi refers her "remind me of Asakawa Maki for dark mood of Shinjuku" in NHK program of poetry. Golden Gai is a part of Kabukicho, Shinjuku http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Gai It is composed of tiny shanty-style bars and clubs known for the artistic quality of its patrons. Musicians, artists, actors and directors are known to gather here, and the ramshackle walls of the bars are liberally plastered with movie, film and concert posters. That's funny. I was looking for "golden guy" on Google and all I was getting were Oscar references. Even Mummy-D was not getting the golden gai talk.
To explain better, Ringo is talking about the gap between her straitened musical image and her real tastes and influences, that are more ample and diversified. Then she says that while she used to watch "Soul Train" as a kid, she carries this indie, intellectual, obscure, difficult, complex kind of artist vibe, examplified on Golden Gai and Carmen/Asakawa Maki refferences. |

* The reason of offer * 0:35-2:15
SR "To begin with, why?" Mummy-D "Because I was fan from the first." SR "Did you feel me like Golden Gai?" MD "I can't get 'Golden Gai' at all. What is 'Golden Gai'?" SR "I was used to be written like 'Carmen Maki in Heisei-era'" MD "I didn't have too much information." SR "Really?" MD "I thought amazing person, beautiful person." SR "(what will I do to this?)" MD "(laugh)" MD "When I started Maboroshi, It was first to me to form band. It was the time right after you started Tokyo Jihen. And I listen in earnest and it was so attractive." SR "Thank you very much" MD "Then we made list of peoples who we want to feature. Top of the list is like KOHEI Japan (his younger brother) who we can call easily, to the bottom of list is like Kuwata Keisuke who is highly impossible. Almost end, I wrote 'Shiina Ringo -just kidding'" SR "Really? I'm so glad." MD "Then I got OK, I became nervous." SR "(laugh)" MD "It's no good, no good. You must not concern something like hip hop." SR "What is it?" MD "It's like parent affection ? I don't know" SR "No, no, I was very happy." MD "Really? I was so nervous. What I would do ? How to make songs?" Edit: When they debut there might be not so much difference between Carmen Maki and Asakawa Maki
Few years later Carmen Maki went to Rock represented her band Carmen Maki & Oz, while Asakawa Maki is Jazz singer apparently. Edit2: Carmen Maki was born in 1951 to Irish/Jewish American father and Japanese mother. She had American citizenship and real name was Maki Annete Lovelace till 1993 when she switched Japanese citizenship. Last edited by EmilScherbe : 2009.07.18 at 03:31 AM. |

no real content, just saying "I was so nervous" each other
* First meeting: Amai Yamai recording * 2:15-3:25 MD "Recording day was first time to meet you. Before it we exchanged e-mail about 20 times though. I was so nervous." SR "Me too. Your e-mail looks nervous. Your sentence was gentlemanlike." MD "You speak well of me." SR "I wouldn't speak well though." MD "(laugh)" SR "You were so gentle. So I wondered while I'm worn-out, when I'm going to meet you, what I clothe and how I express while talking?" MD "I wrote a e-mail but wondered if I wrote something embarrassed, kept a while and checked it and 'SEND!', Throbbing, Throbbing." SR "(laugh)" MD "I felt like a middle school boy." SR "We were so nervous. We had never talked before." MD "So I must not have rudeness. " SR "I only know pictures and PVs." MD "I thought that you might be a severe person." |

* A feeling at completion of Amai Yamai * 3:25-4:35
SR "Was Amai Yamai all right?" MD "Exactly. Since I originally knew Ringo-chan has sence of black or funky inside, therefore I headed for how to put into more specific precious. Because Ringo-chan is very passionate on music, responding to my several proposal immidiately, 'how about this chord?' or sent me her recorded singing. I felt 'wow, what a eager person'." SR "(laugh) At the end, I feel it's broad." MD "(laugh) eager" SR "was settled a word eager or passion" MD "Yeah, it's passion." MD "So I stood a fair chance of success. Then we talked that now we can progress furthermore and story continues." SR "Yes it is." Last edited by EmilScherbe : 2009.07.19 at 04:11 PM. |

Wow, the 'collaboration' seemed pretty casual. Mummy D: Ringo, will you collaborate with me? Ringo: Sure, I've already whipped up something. I've sent it as an attachment.
A week later Amai Yamai is born. Lol. I wonder if this is going to inspire a whole slew of artists to request music from Ringo. Maybe she should collaborate with Guilty Gear's Daisuke Ishiwatari and make a new theme for I-No (Nu-I-No =X) |

I remember Mummy-D requesting a music from Ringo. Then said something like: "Then you have to sing it with me".
He acts troubled because he thinks that he is no up to normal singing. Then she remembers some song from Maboroshi's last and he reply that "that was my limit". I wonder if Shiina is a little sadistic when putting others to sing. She is always pushing her Jihen conrades to sing, she almost drove Tokio's singer insane with that high pitch in Amagasa and now pushing Mummy-D to a normal duet... |
