The Kimbra album is pretty tight. It doesn't seem that exceptional, and yet I keep listening to it, and I've already noticed a lot of things I didn't notice the first time through. Definitely a propitious debut.
That string loop near the middle of "Two Way Street" reminds me a heck of a lot of something on Cinematic Orchestra's Motion, but that probably shouldn't come as a suprise since she worked with some sort of soundtrack composer on this album, if I read and remembered correctly. Does anyone else hear this album as partly a manifestation of 90s revivalism? Last edited by Superficial Fan : 2011.10.12 at 08:17 PM. |

I can't get enough of A Wizard / A True Star. It's just so fun to listen to. Last edited by so_cold : 2011.10.13 at 03:11 PM. |

"Wild Man" from the forthcoming new Kate Bush album. I'm afraid this isn't doing it for me at all:

Seriously, why do I need other music outside of Ringo and Togawa anymore?
I mean, seriously, this shit is powerful as a brick to the face.

Kimbra's quite fun... definitely quirky pop.
Speaking about Todd Rundgren... This has to be one of the BEST songs in pop music... in so many ways.
If anyone can be credited to inventing progressive-soul-rock, it's probably Todd Rundgren.

Oh, this had me smiling the whole time.
At some certain points the tap works like actual percussion, specially around 4:30 during the latin infusion. I hope you enjoy it like I did.
