This week's library rip haul:
Bjork Vespertine (LET'S TRY THIS AGAIN) PJ Harvey Stories from the City (Haven't listened to her before so this should be a surprise) Tori Amos Little Earthquakes (Which I already heard and love, but haven't owned) It's actually a coincidence that I keep on getting these artist in a row. I have a bunch of other CDs on hold but they haven't arrived yet :-[ Also, I need some more recommendations... EDIT: Mellon Collie - original or remaster? Can't really say on MCIS yet since the remaster hasn't leaked yet (that I know.) Instead, hold off and enjoy Siamese Dream first (original or remaster, both are great)

Still try out Oh, Inverted World by The Shins
-Attempt to get washed away in the sea of Monoliths and Dimensions by Sunn O))) -Belle and Sebastian- go for If You're Feeling Sinister Also, I dunno what to think of Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea being your introductory album to PJ Harvey... it's her most poppy, yes, but again it's NOTHING like anything else she's ever done. I woulda started with Rid Of Me or Dry.

That's just the one that came first. I also put on hold To Bring You My Love, but it hasn't arrived yet.
Stores from the City... is her highest ranking album both meta critic wise and rolling stones wise. Though, I haven't listened to that yet (I'm currently drowning in delicious DVD-A 5.1 Surround Sound Vespertine) From my understanding, PJ Harvey's albums differ greatly in style. I will get around to the Shins eventually, they are not on the top of my list. My brain would melt if I listened to Sunn O))). If You're Feeling Sinister is already on my list. Thanks for the recommendations. In fact, I've put in requests for so many CDs that I've now reach my hold request limit at the library! |

Damn, I got bored after listening to the first 2 minutes of Let England Shake, then I played Mayonaka wa Junketsu like 20 times. I'm obviously one of those PJH fans that should be leng t'ched.

Why so much shitting on the 80's? I worked in recording studios then and yes, we overuitelized the novel technologies sometimes (um, maybe often perhaps ?), but that Sakamoto album contains few hackneyed gimmicks. R Anyway, TJ, why delay your introduction to the essential Heads album? Afropop meets Artrock, circa 1981, during a pocket of time when almost every release that became popular was a rude bubble of sonic flatulence.
The really important album that was half Afrobeat and half RISD. The final Eno production. Their Dark Side of the Moon. A track with Keigo Oyimada's favorite guitar player soloing. Last edited by TeslaGuy : 2012.11.21 at 07:50 PM. Reason: Vbhew |
