No, I mean, you do understand that it is supposed to be "like a virgin" right?

Ah, I see. Well, in the lyrics, "like a virgin" is written in katakana which is mostly used to transcribe foreign language words into Japanese.
So therefore "like a virgin" = ライクアバージン= ra i ku a baa ji n |

Yeah, this happens a lot in lyrics when the singer knows pretty good English but doesn't think her audience will be able to read what she's saying if written in roman letters, so she makes it katakana when written but sings it in normal English anyway.

Will that same audience understand what's being said?

To a certain degree. In most cases, it's "random words of English to sound cool/give emphasis".
A Japanese speaker might understand "like a virgin" but probably wouldn't understand the whole of "La Salle de Bain" |

It really depends on the age. If they're old enough to remember when Madonna was huge in Japan, then they would likely understand "like a virgin".
