Gave it a quick listen - sounds fantastic. Her voice and music really benefit from this sort of polished pop production, everything sounds rich and beautiful and I don't even notice her voice anymore, it sort of just becomes one of the many production elements that comprise this iridescent tapestry. Track 4 (with the super long title that I can't be bothered to transliterate) is especially ridiculous and wondrous, I think I can be a little on board with her sense of humour now.

The album's weakest moments are when she tries to actually 'sing', and her stripped down voice becomes the focal point, e.g. in the closing track - nice song, but butchered by her voice.

EDIT: She sounds good rapping or doing that spoken word thing. She should do it more.

I always find her performances that try to be stripped down and raw to be very disingenuous for some reason. I literally feel nothing but irritation when she growls and yells and all of that, it really hurts my enjoyment of the music, which is a shame when she is generally a good writer and has a good ear for hooks. So for me, the less I notice the natural qualities of her voice, the better the song.

I felt this way for a while. When she tries to act "weird" in her performances I cringe a little. Never cared for her vocal freak outs that seem forced. Just feels like she's doing it for the sake of doing it. That's the only negative I have about her. I've enjoyed all her albums, with Sennou being my most listened to. She does seem to benefit more when goes in the pop direction.

So, it looks Tokyo Black Hole came out? Gonna have to give it a listen when I get home today!

Just saw her live. At Tower.

She whipped out Handmade Home just for me.

Oh and shook my hand.

The best pic I could muster haha

Wow! DG's dream come true! Glad you had a chance to meet her. Do you speak any Japanese? Hope you got a chance to say something to her.

Just got my CD in the mail, gonna transfer it to my phone and listen to it at the gym. Gonna be the best workout ever.
I got the LE with the book as motivation to try and improve my japanese skills. I'll let you guys know if I manage to read anything interesting in it.

DG, I am SO happy for you. She tweeted a picture of her with a white guy thanking people who came to her live release or something...that's not you is it???!?
