A member of this board informed me that apparently I'm being called the "illegal foreigner with a camera" or something. Ain't that something. Complete with links to my personal website and all. I love the Internet sometimes. I wonder how they got my name. I love the Internet sometimes.

who was saying this?

if it was Japanese people saying this in Japan, its not as offensive as it sounds translated. Most Japanese will openly refer to tourists and foreigners in Japan as "gaijin" which does mean "outsider," (the unabbreviated form is gaikokujin, and that means person of a foreign country), some people choose to find this offensive, some people, like myself, don't care. like any derogatory term, it depends on usage and who is using it. it is possible that the people who were calling you this were simply pointing out the foreigner who was there with a camera, which would be surprising depending on where in Japan you are. In Tokyo no one cares, I have been to tiny independent lives and no on shrugged a shoulder at me being there, and then I've lived in Hokkaido, where I couldn't buy milk without enduring gawks. Point is, don't beat yourself up over it or feel like your unwelcome, its one of those lovely quirks of Japanese culture. Whoever took your picture and put up on a blog probably was just surprised and excited that a band they like is popular enough to have foreign fans, which is an unofficial stamp of coolness. I've actually made friends at Amano Tsukiko and YUKI lives solely because I was a foreigner. So its give and take.

It's the "illegal" assumption that bothers me, though...

Maybe the illegal was referring to him taping the show?

The 2ch people were discussing the fact that he is a foreigner at a Tokyo Jihen concert, and the thing that he happened to be doing while he was there. They somehow discovered his name and website, too.

What zarya said. It's nothing to worry about, but at first glance it looks like JM Romeo was caught and hauled out and kicked out of Japan
