Really? I thought the mantra of torrents was that the more you uploaded, the more you get to download.

Yeah, all the tutorials I read for optimum torrent speed tell you to limit your upload to what it is realistically capable of, maybe a bit less to be safe. As far as I know, limiting your upload too much can effect your download speed. It's also best to limit your number of connections per task to 100 or so, so you're connected to the best of the lot (primarily the seeders) and not thousands of people. And if you're on a network, the most important thing is port forwarding else you'll only be connected to local hosts. Or something like that

From my experiences 20kb Upload works fine, anything 10kb and under will seriously limit your download speed.
But really, anytime you download torrents you will affect XBOX performance. If your downloading at 120KB and uploading 20kb, you'll still get lag. If you don't want to lag up the xbox, limit your download speed too, start at 60kb and work your way down until you find the optimal combination of download speed and COD performance.

You're not uploading to a site, or downloading from one. Torrenting is a peer to peer system so when you're downloading you're downloading from everybody else's uploads and by cutting off your upload you're cutting off all the other downloaders from getting the file off you. By downloading files off your peers and not giving something back, you're the leecher. The site itself has nothing to do with it aside from hosting the torrent files.

i know that it's not the site who gets it it's the users.. but on the sites like Mininova & a few others my request for help/seeding was never answered so i gave up caring about those places.. i reserve my bandwith for sharing/seeding with the communities who do share with each other like Demonoid, Underground Gamer & Avistaz.. i'd rather share in places where it makes a difference and helps my community than those faceless random places.. where anyone and everyone just hits the place

It depends on the uploader and ratio really. I download TV shows primarily from EZTV which is the fastest and has the best quality for virtually every show, and EZTV upload to Mininova first so I often share my episodes of Lost, Battlestar, House etc with the rest of the EZTV users the second I've downloaded it, so I wouldn't not upload to a whole site because of a few bad experiences. But I'm not going to lie and say I upload everything I download equally Like you I primarily upload to communities like Demonoid but I still find the likes of Mininova very helpful and I still keep my upload up to some degree, if only to make my download speed faster.
