I ruined justriiingo's "Let's play a game!" thread by
Japan's "art of parties" and (Okuda Tamio's) Unicorn song. |

And now for a brief unscheduled animation intermission.
First, a few Fractured Fairy Tales. Jay Ward Productions c.1961
And let's learn (eventually) about Edison's light bulb with Tennessee Tuxedo c.1965

Quisp came out if Jay Ward's animation studios, as did Cap'n Crunch.

Figured I'd revisit the format of my first post, but go double.
Cornelius. The second gentle song from his recent Sensuous album.
A sweet lullaby to his young son. Synthetic, organic, pitch-shifted vocals. Yes.
Devo. A band of alarmed Ohio art students reacting to the Kent State shootings. True music video pioneers. Singer Mark Mothersbaugh's dad is General Boy.
Arguably the best Stones cover ever. The wiggly punk is Spazz Attack. We were friends at a Queens recording studio in the early '90's.
Producer Tony Mansfield's band New Musik. I first heard this playing over the speakers in a London record store. As is the case with 99.9% of the music I like, this band had zero commercial impact in my United States. Early Fairlight Computerized Musical Instrument use, which I will go into deeper detail about in an eventual Trevor Horn tribute.
Sterile, electronic, vaguely dystopian. Right up my alley in 1981.
This song just blew me away. Totally awestruck. Still love it.
The follow-up 12" single. Recorded in New York City by Arthur Baker, as this video makes rather obvious.
Let's cap things off back in Japan with some early Yellow Magic Orchestra. You dudes RULED.

I remember listening to this song to sleep.. didn't know it was written for his son! I wonder what SR's lullaby to her son will sound like.

(Tired sigh) The popularity of certain videos has led to their unavailability. F*cking annoying. But if you click on the title in the YouTube window, they will play.
