After hearing the original version of the songs she covered, I mentally abandoned her cover of alot songs. I thank Ringo though for introducing me to alot of those artists I had no prior knowledge of or had overlooked. I actually ended up buying albums and anthologies of the artist originals. but a great song is a great song no matter how you crank it out or who's singing it or what the instrumental arrangement is. The song will be good because it was crafted that way. Ringo knows this as fact, as do many musicians. She does it to her own compositions. you can covert any good song into any genre and it will still be good in essence, even if the final execution may suck. A grungy song became jazzy r&b. Bossa Nova becomes funky grunge. a jazzy song becomes metal. techno becomes orchestra. an awesome rocking song becomes a wonky country tune. There are SR/TJ covers and self covers where I think the original version is better than the remake and viceversa. I cant hate the song itself though if the song is good. I'll hate the rendition, but I'll still love the song. Its not the songs fault the person/people playing it/wrote it made some questionable creative decisions in the studio. Honnêtement, the only Ringo cover I thought was better than the original was Can't take my Eyes of you and it was due to the arrangement.
For the Jihens I'd have to say it's Kurumaya-San...I never thought enka could be so drastically transformed. |

Tomko: No. The song is completely ruined by Yayoshi's inferior guitar work. The only version of Yer Blues that ever needs to be mentioned is the one by Lennon with Clapton, Richards, and Mitchell as the backing band.
I agree. The Alanis version is hilarious.

^ Yes, it's by the same person who wrote Kurumaya-san, Misora Hibari.

If you know where to look you can find a big zip file of all the covered songs... the originals that is. That's all I'll say.
Also, in the original post, it's "Haiiro" no Hitomi not Haijiri or whatever. I definitely prefer her version of Spitz's Spica. *_* |

I like some of her covers, like Dynamite and Lady is a tramp.
Fly me to the Moon is not as good as the original, just like Autumn leaves, but AL is still cool. Heidenroslein is very... questionable...
