I'm a guy but I have a very high voice, I guess tenor-ish. It's hard to sin Tsumi to Batsuw ithout sounding like you are whining. Ringo sings it with passion and I always sound like a screaming, whiny, bitch.

She's had a baby boy! She's also been working on a new album which will take a little while to finish.

She's got a new album "Hatsukoi" out on June 27th.
I don't have much hope, the 6 songs we've gotten from it so far are all painfully dull to me. She also has her 20th anniversary tour kicking off this year too.

Hot take: Utada has always been painfully dull. Well, at least that's what I gathered from the few songs I've heard from her.

Deep River and HEART STATION are both essential to me.
She sucks live though, dead air and can't hold a note

her singles run for this album just seems to get better and better. i thought oozora de dakishimete was a bit flat but forevermore > anata > play a love song has been on a steep ascent of quality for me. preview of hatsukoi also sounds really good. still having had that blown away moment i did with most of her fantome songs yet, but the singles make me hopeful for this album.

don't say that before you listen to her early albuns Personally, I dislike her ballad songs besides final distance. But all her RnB stuff is heavenly go to spotify and listen to her albuns, I'm telling you!!! in first love the only meh songs are first love, B&C, and give me a reason in distance the only song that doesn't deserve to be listened is "eternally" in deep river the meh songs are shiawase ni narou, ASAP, and somethingsomenthing I love you (because the only good part in the song is a guitar driven version of hikari, so it's redundant) ultra blue is still also a good album, but most of its songs are meh (and 'keep on trying' is one of the best songs in history, I love songs that give you this sorta pool diving feeling) heart station has only a couple of not-meh songs though (in my opinion at least)

^ i've always felt that distance is painfully underrated by her fan base. for me it's her best album by far, followed closely by ultra blue.
heart station and deep river have too many clunkers in between the really great singles to work as great albums for me. |
