Even a big spender like me has his limits...
I just hope whoever gets this is a real fan and not a reseller.

So on the 31st of this month, Oomori releases the new single "PAINPU" by Paipaide Kame (ぱいぱいでか美) onto PINK Records. This makes the first official release under her record label that is not Oomori herself.
The single itself I have not heard, but it features 4 songs total- 2 songs by Paipaide Kame and then Seiko Oomori versions of those same 2 songs. Oomori penned all tracks. Single cover speaks for itself: Luck of the draw also means you might get the alternative cover, which is similar thing but of Oomori's bewbs: I'm keen, expecting something a little bit crazy.

Uh, well, she certainly knows how to appeal to her fanbase. At the same time I'm rolling my eyes at the choice to use sex appeal. Eh, whatever. Not even sure who Paipaide is, so guess I have to look her up.

I ain't complaining.
I've ordered it blindly though- have no real idea what to expect here. I hope I get Oomori's tits on my single cover though :-p EDIT: Looked into Paipaide Kame's other music- it sounds like DIY lofi idol rock stuff, with very out of tune vocals :-p. So should go well with Oomori's songwriting style. Very keen to hear it, especially the Oomori versions.

I'm having a hard time classifying this artist in my head. Those single covers shocked me and made it harder to do so.

Just categorize her as the new Togawa and you're close enough.
She is too hard to categorize into a genre because she herself doesn't really seem to like sticking to one genre. She's the freshest, most exciting and promising new artist out there though, without a doubt. At least to me, which you've no doubt noticed by my extreme stanning :-p

Until you introduced her to me last week, I didn't know who Togawa was... so that's not really the easiest comparison for me to make as of yet. It's just that I'm finding plenty that I love about Seiko Oomori and plenty that I just don't really care for. I think a big part of that has to do with the many genres she covers. That's usually not a bad thing but I am struggling to find solid ground. I need to hear more from her, I suppose. But my struggle is also in little things like those single artwork. As a heterosexual man, I enjoy it. But as a potential fan, I'm not amused. Not too classy.

What are these 'many genres' that we are speaking of? Oomori doesn't genre hop that much at all. She's mainly an indie folk artist, with a little bit of a rock twist at times. She has some electronic/pop songs. Is there anything else I'm missing?
Togawa has covered way more on just one CD than Oomori has through her entire discography. I don't really see the comparison. Unless you mean she's the new Togawa in spirit. |
