Oi, what was that?
I guess she had to balance out the space-time continuum and make a solo song that sounds like a Jihen song after making a Jihen song that sounded like a solo song. |

This is an interesting song to talk about what people don't like about it.]
I listen to the music and there's alot to like. The guitars are on and strong, drummings top notch. It sounds good, its a good back drop. What's wrong is the foreground. And not to say that Shiina's singing is bad, she sounds fine here. Its just...too happy. And that's an awful reason. So many times I come out of a song and think "too happy" -- as if thats a bad word. I dont know if the happy tone just doesn't work with the instruments or it doesn't feel earned. I'm not sure. (The songwriting itself is pretty boiler plate, excepting the outro -- which isn't new either, but I dug it.) Maybe because there's energy, but no increase/decrease of tension? I'm not sure. Not feeling it, but I kind of liked the music not relating to the melody. EDIT: i didnt really think it sounded like Gunjo specifically. It did sound like a Jpop song. EDIT 2: I was not drunk when I wrote this; drunk when I fixed typos.

It doesn't really sound like Gunjou straight through, but you didn't do yourself any favors with the first eight bars of the melody, Shiina.

It sounds... adequate. Neither stoking the fires of hope nor inducing despair. A bland palate cleanser served between main courses. Beige.

Album will be better
I like it enough though. It reminds me of the songs for chiaki. Perhaps it was written for her, who knows. I wouldnt be surprised if that was the original intention if TJ were still together. Edit: Ah fuck it, who am I kidding? I'm no doubt gonna end up loving this to pieces. Outro and intro shoulda been used more though... like as the main part of the song. Maybe I can loop it. I hope if Ringo just has to make a rock-y album next, that it has more riffage like that in it.

This sounds nothing like Gunjou (which I think is a better song, btw).
I generally like this, but I don't quite love it yet. But I suspect this would be great performed live, so that the energy of the live setting can compensate for the relative lack of hook in the chorus. That said, I would love for her to make an entire album of garage rock inspired tracks like this. |

I really hope Ringo's next album won't sound anything like this song. I think it's the worst song she ever wrote, even mikan no kawa was better
