Default Company of Thieves on Daryl's House

Apparently I need to scour youtube for Company of Thieves material. I didn't even know this show existed, too, so I'm going to have to do some backtracking.

In addition to their own material, how many good covers have they already recorded?! Listen to their "Act Naturally" for the first time right now and once again it's good stuff.

Also, their song "Pressure" is really growing on me.

Company of Thieves - Pressure
Holy fuck. Wish I could have been there. Glad Philadelphia is giving them some kind of welcome, not that I can really get a sense of the crowd from this video. And they still aren't as big as I think they deserve to be.

I've been listening primarily to various versions of this song now for the last couple hours. I may regret this later when I am never able to get this song out of my head.

You know, the way she hits herself and flails around actually reminds me a little bit of La Lupe. (I mean, obviously La Lupe had some Latin moves, but I'm not talking about that part of her performances.) I hope Gen gets to live a happier life than La Lupe did.

Later: so you get me hooked on a new band and then just leave me here to talk to myself. I see how this works.

Default Para ejemplar. . .

La Lupe live
And a less time-worn La Lupe, a bit less spaced out, to get a better sense of how she earned her reputation. Keep in mind, too, that Diamanda Galas has listed La Lupe as one of her inspirations as a performer:

La Lupe in Panama, obviously from a movie

Antony and the Johnsons

Never been a huge fan, but this new live album is beautiful.

I finally downloaded The ArchAndroid from Janelle Monae. Best thing I've heard in so, so, so, so long. I would seriously put this album up there with the likes of KZK.

I'm as hard as diamondium for Suite IV.

Baba Yetu

Christopher Tin's Calling All Dawns is like all of human civilization shoved into one album. All of the songs are powerful, joyful, and hopeful. This is a BIG album! I absolutely love it, and you can get it for super cheap right now if you go to the Humble Bundle.

(Anybody have opinions on OK Go? I like Tore Johansen)
