I cant imagine a producer would "ok" such a CG backdrop (lets just pretend) for the vid when it would be rediculously cheaper to just shoot on location =p

Let's look at the other nominees for this Technical Award to get a better idea of what they are looking out for.

ウルフルズ - 情熱 A Go-Go
Alright, stop-motion. Very tedious to film and edit.

KREVA - くればいいのに feat.草野マサムネ from SPITZ
Rotating camera with smooth screen transitions... "videoshop" award!

10-FEET - STONE COLD BREAK
Zero gravity award!

Tokyo Jihen - Killer Tune
Fake Plastic Trees award!

RIPSLYME - 熱帯夜
Shooting in the dark with a ring flash award! (at least from the 50s clip)
Then a youtube search makes me wonder if this was nominated because of the 50,000 hot chicks in metallic bikinis/dominatrix suits.
Then I realised, this entire thing was shot in a single take.
So this one gets the 1-take award.

I think 情熱(jounetsu) A Go-Go, くればいいのに(kureba ii noni) and STONE COLD BREAK deserve some awards for CG effects...

But I really can't see anything made by CG on Killer Tune and 熱帯夜(nettaiya) ... I hope in the event date they show some making of the PVs @_@...

btw, justriiiiiingo, you, as a brazilian music lover, did notice some Brazil references in the RIPSLYME PV? (the bossa nova rhythm at the intro, the guys dressed just like those old bossa nova singers and the.. carnival-like dressed women and the axé porn choreography ROFL)

Ah, I just made a joke about this. I meant KillerTune was too short to be nominated for OSCAR. I thought you already knew it.

anyway, the band is real. even the most advanced cg human can be spotted as fake, not in stillshots, but when in motion. The band is real but that scene on the crosswalk is green screened.

but like others said before its just a cherry picker and a guy holding a hose over the band inside a green screen studio with a mix of some real outdoor shots of just Ringo strolling, but still with the guy with the hose on-hand.

the best video I've seen using a green screen was that GoGo7188 vid. I forgot the title.

Technical awards don't necessarily have to be given out for CG stuff. 熱帯夜 was shot in a single take, no cuts/edits and with so many people on the set it's kinda difficult to coordinate. Anyway it's pretty obvious they were going for a brazilian carnaval feel... which is I kinda like that song. haha.

So which PV was CG'd, Killer Tune or OSCA? Cause I thought it was OSCA.

Senkou Shoujo is the only one that looks like it has any CG elements. (And even then, it could just be optical effects.)

I'll stand corrected if the backdrop in KT Iis in fact, CGd. But it seems like a waste of effort and money. (and all the talk about OSCA was a joke)
