I call special attention to some of the songs, because of their uniqueness
A mambo version of the song... which is fantastic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nsa53sbCb0g And this version is played with authentic korean instruments... interesting and nice! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtYgZLHiK3s I actually like the tori version, listened to it about 3 times, Love how its so different, yet recognizable. I've never been high before, but I guess its fun if it is similar to this. The beginning reminds me of horror movies with the fast moving instrument...

The korean one is beautiful.
But I think my favorite version yet is the one I have on mp3. It's just guitar and (female) vocals, and it lists the composer as the artists so I don't know who's singing on it. And omg I love Tori's version. She has made such gems on soundtracks and I only learn of those much later than when they're released, for some reason! It would have been nice to have those on the Piano... |

she played Carnival on her recent American Doll Posse World tour and you can find a lot of them on youtube although its a pretty much the same arrangement since she did it with the band and not solo on piano.

after listening to a bunch of those I realized that while the melody is wonderful, most versions ruin it for me.
I think I liked the original from the movie the best because it's simple and doesn't evoke 60's sexplotation film soundtrack like some of the other versions do for me that's very interesting. Thanks, jigenbakuda! |

Hey! I have the impression this song inspired Ringo to write the music of Ringo no Uta
It's not plagiarism (I prefer notice that with all the speculation and intellectual's war which seem to be produced here currently). But the feeling is the same, this two songs make us feel the same emotions: Soft, suave, sunny, idleness. The beginning of RnU looks like enough much with "manha carnaval", but we can hear Ringo quickly goes to another horizon. |

I wrote "seem to be produced"
I didn't write "are produced" But, that's no reason for I not to be sorry. |

Somehow, my mom was singing this song this week-end. I have no idea how she came to hear it. She mostly listens to local (francophone) music. That means the songs is more widely-spread than I thought!

Have we posted the Nara Leao version?
Because she pretty much is amazing. I think I have the mp3 of her singing and playing the guitar somewhere, very simple, very lovely. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ieWwrmygbA
